Just getting killed in the middle.

The synergy with the handball and spread is absent. I only hope they reset and learn from this next year

FMD. I still haven't gotten over 87. Now this?

Back on the Prozac.

I thought we were only a 30% chance of winning  today (and not ready for a flag either), but I wasn’t expecting this. Complete system failure, mental disintegration. What a shame, we are so much better than this. Hopefully we can put up a fight in the second half. Or just kick a goal.

Oliver having to use the toilet just before the game unusual. Perhaps food poisoning? Would be surprised if the players food got spiked over there.

He’s gone off to the toilet at the last minute at the G too.

Doubt it’s food positioning

Google ....  stop the pain !!

The soft underbelly remains.

Turns out Kingy wasn't wrong at all.

We always said a good team would cut us apart with our skill errors, turn overs. This is a great example of a team pouncing on our errors

Starts and finishes with your leaders.

Classic MFCSS by me but only Melbourne could make a prelim and dish up this sort of embarrassment.

Seriously though. Could you see a Clarkson side or even Geelong dish this up? So very Melbourne. I didn't expect us to win, but I was hoping we'd kick a [censored] goal before half time.

Look, we can still win (although unlikely), but that's not the point. We've already surpassed expectations this year. So our buildup for next year is what truly matters. We need to show that we won't stand for this. If we're going to go down, we have to salvage some dignity and at least send the message that we'll be back next year, a little older, wiser, fitter, angrier...

Exactly

Far too many posting here today want to throw the baby out with the bath water

Take the positives out of the season

I am certain that I will get accused of accepting mediocrity but if one only looks at the negatives one will go back to square one

I would like to see a tough hard second half where we contest everything with ferocity and make them hurt. If we can win the second half it will help is in our preparations for next season. Another [censored] poor display.......who knows what will happen over summer

Exactly what I just said. The game is lost. From here, I want these players to show some [censored] pride in the jumper. Hurt these pricks. Tackle them hard. Bury their heads into the turf. Punch them in the guts. I don't even care about suspensions anymore. Don't [censored] roll over and let these pricks just walk over our club. Make them earn it and make them sore!

Show some bloody pride in the bumper, Demons. I had no issue with losing to a better side today but you have "trashed the brand" with this "performance." Disgusting and lamentable for the long suffering supporters who only ask one thing: give it your all.

It was always going to be a huge ask going over to Perth in a PF and winning. It shows how much work we still need to do.

The past few weeks have been hugely positive, 4 full weeks of being on such an emotional high for everyone at the club, just disappointing that our down period has turned out the way it has. The playing group are clearly mentally and emotionally exhausted.

Hopefully this loss doesn’t cause too much damage to our psyche and we learn from it. I would like to see at least some response from the boys, in our last 2 quarters for the year

All we can hope for is a tiny bit of respectsblitiy. And even that’s extremely unlikely

Bring back Jack Watts!

Priority pick maybe

Unbelievable.

Literally losing every facet of the game. The old Melbourne is back - too many at the ball, losing inside, losing outside, not tackling, dropping our heads.

Aim from here has to be to win the half, at least restore some pride and undo some of the paychological damage this game will cause if it keeps going this way.

Of course we will here how the players will say they will  never put in another shocker like this.

I feel sorry for all those fans who have travelled to Perth and those at Fed square.

an absolute pathetic display.

Shame we went out as an embarrassment, after all our good work over the past month.

Is Chaos Footy already old hat, in Favor of pick em off and control the ball?

Hats off to Adam Simpson, brilliant plan going into this game to make us look entirely second rate.

Shot ourselves in the foot not finishing top 4, players are spent plus this [censored] trip to bogansville has zapped any energy we had in reserve.

5 losses under 10 points, your season right there in a nut shell and now those hunts from vic park are laughing all the way to a premiership.

Hard to argue with most of what's been said here.

It's all in the head. Nervous, not coping, and then everything that flows from that.

They need to understand, this may be our last chance for a while

This is obviously heartbreaking, humiliating and painful. But we’ve learned something this year, fellow supporters. This is a team we can feel genuinely proud of now. Maybe not today. Well, obviously not today. But....you know what I’m saying. They’ve played their guts out and are obviously cooked for the year. But be proud. Don’t be a [censored] about it. Love your Demons.

12 players yet to lay a tackle. 12! Should drop every bloody one of them for round 1 next year.

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.
