Hoping for a Collingwood win as a Melbourne v Collingwood Grand Final would be so right on so many grounds.

Of course Richmond supporters would say we avoided them but there's always next year.

I expect Richmond to be too good and Collingwood to fade in the 2nd half.

Tigers by 33.

Interesting that many people are almost writing Collingwood off.

They were only beaten in the last quarter in the West and beat the seemingly inform GWS.

Or is it that people think Richmond are so good.

Sidebottom is elite and they have a dominant ruck in Grundy. Pendlebury delivers week in week out. Forward line is a little brittle and they seem to have patched together a decent backline. And of course there is that star player that Buckley discovered by switching him down back.. can't quite remember his name.

Tigers by 3 goals.

Either way, I hope its the most physical game ever played.

Let’s hope that they go hard at it, plenty of (two-week) injuries and lots of reports!

Just thought the Pies, GWS game was really scrappy, so Tiges for me.

I'd expect Maynard and Adams etc to really rough up the tigers.  Probably the only chance collingwood have.  on talent and structure, the tigers should win easily.

Could not care less who wins, as I think at our best we can beat both.

Would I prefer to beat Collingwood on GF day, for sure.

Do I hope both teams get loads of medium term injuries? yes.

Think it will be close and 80 points will be enough to win it. Hope they beat the shyte out of each other.

I begrudgingly admire how well the Pies have gone this season despite being slaughtered by injury.

I think they run out of gas tonight though.  Tigers by 76.

True, but if we lose to WCE do you really want C'wood in a GF?

Good point.

To be fair I am not even contemplating the possibility of a WCE win.

Collingwood will play for 3 quarters and Richmond will win

Pies have scored 76,70,69 in their last 3 games. They will need to score a lot more than that if they are to beat Richmond in my opinion. If Collingwood can win the territorial battle they could go close to beating them. Richmond do it better than most though. Tigers 94-67.

I just absolutely hate the filth. I hope the tigers smash them to oblivion. I don't like Richmond either.

Not fussed who wins but a Dees filth granny would light a fuse under this town it hasn't seen the likes of for half a century !!

Just hoping for a maniacal game of attrition ;)

Should not be underestimated what it would do for our brand (hate that word) to re-ignite the mystical nostalgia of '58 and '64.

Could be the fillip to deliver another ten thousand members next year.

Some big hurdles still to be overcome but no use dwelling on the negatives at this time of year.

I think Richmond will win, and purely from a selfish perspective, that's the way I'd prefer it to go.  My rationale:

  • I 'dees-pies' Collingwood so much that the thought of them playing off in a Grand Final makes me want to puke;  and
  • if we happened to play Collingwood in the Grand Final, Grundy has the capacity to reduce the influence of our major trump card in big Max, making a win more difficult for us.

It hurts me to say it, but I want a Richmond win tomorrow night.  Maybe by a big margin, so they drink a tub full of their own bathwater before facing a rampant Dees outfit.

I would be very surprised if Collingwood were to win against Richmond on their showing against GWS. The intensity of their game last week was a few notches below that of the night before and they will need to lift to match it with Richmond.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
