Regardless what happens today, win or lose, I’m proud of what we did this year.

Feeling the same, although I think we will win by around 25 points. It's great that the club is relevant, and feared.

The two clubs that have embarrassed us most over the last 30 years have been Hawthorn and Geelong.

There would be nothing more glorious or fitting than dispatching both in consecutive weeks.

Am I that lucky ?

Yes I think you are !!

Just a reminder that JACK VINEY IS BACK TONIGHT AND WILL HAVE NO HESITATION IN DESTROYING ANY GEELONG PLAYER IN HIS PATH.

As part of his fitness test, the coaches threw a couple of them in front of him and he destroyed them without even fully realising they were there. It's an instinct.

I remember when we lost that finals game to Freo back in 2006. I was living in the back blocks of China and had listened to us get rolled via online radio broadcast. I remember thinking as soon as the final siren went that at least we had won a final and that it was all upwards and onwards from here.

While I personally think the Cats will get up tonight, I want the players to seize this opportunity. These opportunities don't come often.

As John Kennedy (the Hawthorn coach, not the assassinated president) said, 'It's later than you think.'

Oh man it's really here isn't it! The day we've been waiting for. It's like Xmas day, or New years day, whatever you prefer/believe in.

I feel like it's a coin flip at this stage, I know we can do it but we really don't know anything until the game starts. Most of what has been said about our form and previous losses to the Cats prior will go out the window.

It's going to be such a long day. I REALLY need to leave work early today but there's a metric shiteload to do. Will likely have to settle for the stress of getting there on time on top of the stress I'm already feeling.

I told myself a fortnight ago that I was going to enjoy this final and put no pressure on the side.  I wasn't going to be too fussed if we lost because we've made it over the finals hurdle and it's a big step in our development.

But that's all gone out the window this morning.  I'm as nervous as anything, can't sit still, and 7:50pm can't get here quick enough!

I'm tipping a Dees win in a close one but the Cats aren't to be taken lightly.  I'd love us to smash them into the turf all night but I don't see it happening.

Go Dees!

I had forgotten that feeling of win you play next week.....lose and you are done for the season. Interesting to get the head around.

Didn’t that happen last year? ?

Watching last night's game ... the first quarter especially, it was frantic. And I thought, that's our style. That's the way we try to play.

We are absolutely set for this. Game plan clicked at the right time of year. Mindset fixed and primed, at just the right time.

Goody's got us playing finals type footy, with everything in place for us to power through.

Recently, whenever I have been supremely confident of a win, we have flubbed it. So I won't say I'm supremely confident. Just that this situation ... the timing, the occasion, everything ... is made for us.

GO DEMONS!!!

I think we are a better, more evenly balanced team, and we have a level of 'belief' that we haven't seen for a very long time.  I'm expecting a comfortable win, and looking forward to the media hype about our prospects, which will go into overdrive next week.  Notwithstanding my confidence, my gut is so knotted with nerves, it feels like I've eaten a flat Sherrin.

This might sound stupid, but watching last nights pressure made me nervous. I agree that is how we play, but I’m not sure we will handle it, served up to us. The Collingwood game still worries me for pressure.

Jesus am I nervous... I have so much to do at work today but I think I'm going to have a very unproductive day and get the hell out of here early.

I don't think I could handle getting beaten by those pr#cks again.

If we are nervous, imagine what the players must be feeling!

Not nervous  really confident, not over the top though. I am usually very pessimistic but feel we will win by 36 points or so.

Remember. Our last two games have been elimination games, we have been in finals routine for 3 weeks, just getting better and better.

And I cannot see any of our players taking this game lightly and just expect to win!

not after the two so so close games. It will not be easy. Frost onto Hawkins they won’t have enough power up front.

selwood danger Ablett. See Oliver Brayshaw and viney. We are as good. No we are better than those old men!

hawthorns Burgoyne last night showed finals are no place for old men to be prime movers. Experience can ice the cake and save it but it’s the youth that will win it.

Go Dees !!

My feelings exactly. I think we will win by 6 goals plus.

Any danger we can get Geelong on an inaccurate night?

Round 18 2018 - 16.4.100

Round 1 2018 - 14.13.97

Round 3 2017 - 20.6.126

Round 23 2016 - 24.11.155

Round 12 2005 - 13.11.89

An average of 17.9.111

Don't forget the 37.11.233 either.......

I think the Weagles kind of proved we've improved since then.

It looks like a we are getting a ticker tape parade but haven’t yet won a final. I just hope we are the real deal this time. It would be too painful losing to that mob for a third time after gifting them their finals appearance.

Done. And to think my current job title is Chief Editor. I've gone the early Hutchy on the nerves.

This is absolute gold - and a great start to my day.

Got good seats for the game for me, a son and and a daughter,  heading down on the train mid afternoon.

Ready to go. I LOVE being in the finals but am also feeling that nervous anticipation that comes with it. And I have to wait until 7.50pm!!

Finals reveals those players who play well in big games (Andrew McLeod from the Crows, Matera from WCE, Jarman, Dermie etc....) I reckon Petracca, Frost or Spargo might really fire up and join the form of Oliver, Brayshaw, Max and Nev.

Go Dees! The rest can "go and get stuffed!"

Just think, even if we lose it's better than not making the finals at all.

Very true, Clint.  I'm loving the fact we're playing in September and we're not just here making up the numbers.  If Geelong do knock us out then I'll be hugely disappointed but also proud of the season we've had and excited for the next few years ahead.  We can't lose sight of that, regardless of the result tonight.

Feeling quite relaxed about it, I was more nervous about actually making the finals the last few weeks, now we are there not nervous at all that might change closer to game time, hope the boys watched last night, there was a 2 minute period in the 1st quarter where no one got clean ball was just insane the pressure and the crowd was going nuts
