Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Finals Week 1 - Non-MFC Games

That game showed you need to take your chances when they present themselves.

The Hawks were with Richmond in the first half but fluffed it when it really mattered. It reminded me a bit of our match against Sydney. The longer the match went, the bigger the seed of doubt the Tiges put in Hawthorn's head.

At the risk of being “cried down”” I did a quick analysis of the last 5 games of the 8 finalists. To me Hawks got beaten by a top 4 side against a bottom 8 top 9 side ...5 to 6 goals...that is where the Hawks should have finished.  Likewise Collingwood should lose by a similar margin & Geelong...same.   Syd v GWS bit more toss of a coin.  We have the best run into finals improving incrementally every week.  The anomalies are of course...human fragility’s...how we perform on the day ...injuries..etc..l.but if the footy gods smile...I believe we are the only genuine contender to the Tigers..Go Dees❤️?

Nope.

Well then how can you not see Mitchell having the inside running, is voted on by umpires just after games, the umpires are not looking at or seeing the bigger picture, just Mitchell accumulating possessions. There is a reason why Blight was right in his criticism of the MVP, a similar case can be made for the Brownlow, it is why I rate the coaches award as being the best.

Because I don’t. He’ll be in the mix no doubt but to be favourite by a stretch doesn’t seem right, I think it is more even than that. They might see him accumulate but they also see the silky mids who damage and kick goals. Also this year I feel the two premier ruckman have been too good to ignore and will finally poll well.

I pretty much agree with everything you say, I just have no faith in the umpires

Threw away the whistles in the second quarter, of all times, when they realised they couldn't adjudicate the game because it was going too fast for them.......... poor dears!!

Clarko made a great comment in the presser tonight, one Goody should hear: “tactics don’t make premiership teams, systems based teams win premierships.”

Melbourne is a systems based team, high pressure, contested ball, good set up behind the ball, ball played in forward half. We should stick to the 6:6:6 and back our game (system) in, and not get too creative Re: 8 behind the ball etc...

How Mitchell was the MVP Has me stuffed, not damaging enough and his role easily replaced, will probably bluff his way to the Brownlow aswell

If he wins the Brownlow that would cheapen the award and prestige around it. Gawny has had 10 times the impact than the Gazza cheap possession wanna be.

Feeling good against the Hawks... if we get there.

GWS play a possession game reliant upon great skills albeit they play  a lot faster then Hawthorn. We were able to shut down GWS so hopeful we could do the same against the Hawks.

Tigers deny teams the corridor which is so important to quick ball movement.

Frankly I had expected a better game from Hawthorn.

way too slow... could not help but wonder where all that break away speed was that they used to smash us in similar conditions

It struck me the Toiges were just relentless...the Hawks tried to control the tempo and keep possession. Didn't work.. Richmond just kept at it....coursing forward...like a tide.

I can’t see how some think we can beat Richmond. Hawthorn on the other hand are very gettable.

A more skilful side that matches their intensity for the whole game. How many of their goals in the first half came from marks inside 50 and many from opportunities created from manic forward 50 entries (McIntosh kicked his first from an easy chest mark, I stopped watching after 3/4 time) They set up well but are not unbeatable.

I still think we along with the Eagles can trouble them.

Please can you ship your time machine up here I have some teenage dalliances I'd like to shape a bit differently

(because you have evidently hopped into your hot tub time machine and assured yourself of victory)

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
