Might take some pressure off Gawn. He gets targeted and sometimes his great ruck work nullified by strong Opposition onballers.

 At times I feel he  is overworked and depended on too much. Now that Brayshaw Oliver and Petracca are lifting maybe he could be  more flexible?

Some of his best work is when he drifts down back and  intercepts or up forward to take a strong mark that opposition find hard to stop.(Just needs to nail some of those close in shots!) A bit more time down back and up forward wouldn't hurt methinks-though depends a lot on team balance and how the game is being played.)

I'm open to others thoughts on this. Is having two big men on at the same too much? Could they be used through interchange as well?

He cant do any worse up forward than current day T Mac,  and hes a very aggressive monster with a point to prove and a great competitor at the centre bounces. 

I want him to stay in the team alongside Gawn.   Someone tell me it will work.

Yes Preuss has a great game.  I gave him a vote (6 to 1) as 6th best because he competed all night, negated Grundy, had 24 hit outs , was cramping and sore in the calf in the 3rd quarter but pushed on. He was getting better as the game went on. Took two very good contested marks.  Tackled well. In the end nearly snagged a goal but the siren sounded as Fritsch was passing to him.  

Really good game from the beast  ????????

Absolute luxury having him as a backup.

He can most definitely do worse than TMac. He isn’t a forward’s bootlace.

Preuss was really good last night and it sucks that he will be dropped when Gawn comes back, but make no mistake about it, he will be dropped. He knew what he was signing up for when he came to the club.

On the performance vs Colonwood IMO he should stay in and TMcD miss out.   Tom’s best is / was better than Preuss’ best but that is not right now. 
As I mentioned in another thread, if Tom’s problem is something that would it could well recover with a long lay off, with a good chance of returning to his 2018 output, then stop and get in with it now.  
And of course if MG11 ain’t anything better than 99.9% recovered then leave things as they are.

I thought that was really weird.

I woudn't expect pruess to be there next year. He deserves a shot a senior ruck and he won't get it at Melbourne.

Perhaps we get some games into him and try to push his value up. Until we got Jacko I had no issue about have Preuss in the background as a back up ruck but he’d be considered behind Jackson now in the heir to throne of ruckman at our club.

I couldn’t understand why he wanted in to begin with, surely he knew it would be an uphill battle to get game time.

Yep it was unusual.

His 65 m kick to the top of the square was a ripper. He is a different player lean, and was hungry as, hugely and happily surprised. He lasted alot longer and had obviously done huge work on his endurance. Don't trade him out yet, I see Jackson as a young Paul Salmon type for now.

He didn't do his stocks any harm on the weekend.

If he asks to be traded, particularly if another club shows serious interest, then I'd consider it... for a decent price.  Could we get our way back into the late first round?  I'd say we are a 5% chance, but the bloke is a handy back up and I'd see no reason to let him go unless we were very well compensated.

unfortunately we wouldn't be getting anything near that. No offence to big Preussy. Love the guy but he's not got the runs on the board to command that. he was very important to us this week with both our Rucks out but I'm not sure an insurance policy gets a late first round.

And no doubt you're right about that.  

I'm not suggesting it's what we will get, but more what we should shrug our shoulders and demand if a club wants him.  He is still under contract and, unless he really pushed hard for a trade or made things difficult, then I'd see no reason in letting him go unless we got a seriously good offer.

Reckon a team like GWS (Sausages and Sauce are cooked) would and could pay overs for Pruess (and also Cats, Bombers and Crows as article suggested) 

But also depends on Bradtke development (hard to tell with no magoos games to watch),  and what they are willing to give up

First round draft pick? (I would probably take that - but unlikely). 

Or someone with some speed and silky skills - anyone else do a deal. 

Could use a late pick to get a lump of a lad as security.

First round pick for Preuss .... where do we sign !!

The second ruckmen was always a dying species and with reductions in lists extinction is not far off. There are calls to allow third man up which would also spell the end.

The only ruckmen that are valued are those that can play around the field and there are perhaps four or five of those at most.

Assuming Gawn comes in for him this week, it would be worth resting Gawn in round 17 or 18 in the lead up to finals

good to have Preuss ready to go.  He certainly surprised me with his second efforts

I like the idea ... but I have a feeling that having one of Preuss or Gawn forward the whole game will have a detrimental impact on our forward pressure.  Obviously TMac does not have great speed or agility but I feel he would do better than either of the ruckman at finding his man / running to the right spot in the zone etc.

Potentially also messes with Weid's role because he's currently playing out of the goal square most of the match -  can't imagine max or preuss playing CHF

Preuss fan here. Popular bloke in my estimates who quickly summed up the opposition of Grundy who tends to go early and  {P}does not avoid the conflict. Wanted it straight on all the time, and he's a big boy. 

The little i know from ruckwork in some ways is nearer to my heart with Preuss than Max. He also has the mandatory second effort.He is also a presence and we {MFC} are also shepherding.
