WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BRAYDON PREUSS

Loved his agression in all this. He will make defenders think twice sitting in the hole.

Felt like he freed up Tom McDonald also which was a huge positive for me.

Agreed dd36 it was great to see Tommy and Weid able to move freely up the ground knowing that we have FF covered, hopefully will help TMac get back to his absolute best in the coming weeks. Preussey is just what we need, he would have been handy against Bombers but must have been a bit sore.

Jumped over to the north board..

"Yeah, it’s going to [censored] me not having him around".

"he’s killing it"

"It’s a ****en joke we didn’t play him".

"2 goals Preuss.
**** me dead. We get Campbell.
It's a cruel life"

"Preuss dominating. Can see why we got rid of him".

"Trading a project depth ruckman that had not been an absolute failure at the small opportunity at AFL level for a very mediocre peaked slow depth midfielder who had fallen out of favour..." (your mate doing wonders here @olisik.....)

"Don't worry lads...we have Dom Tyson".

"Gets his chance, takes it. Indictment on Brads safe selection policy. Preuss is exactly what we need right now".

Talented ready made ruckman don't grow on trees.

We fleeced North.   Cant thank them enough.

I do love Demonland sometimes.

Before last night, the Preuss trade was a disaster.

Now, after one game, the Preuss trade is a masterstroke.

To be fair, I have been on the Pruess band wagon since RD 1...

I really liked his delicate tap work in the forward line. Almost better than Gawn in that respect. And he won’t be shoved out of the way as sometimes happens with Gawn against a beefy opponent  in the forward or back line. I don’t believe though he will have the mobility to cover the entire ground on a consistent basis. He is handy around the goals and if he didnt  hurt his shoulder he could easily have had a bag of 4 or more goals. His brute strength will be huge asset for us around the goals. His teammates have to find a way to exploit it. If we don’t expect him to be everyman in the game he will be a weapon.

As soon as i saw him sort out Aliir, i liked him. Then Scoring two very good goals, what a beast!

Without him standing up to and standing over Aliir, I feel we would have most likely lost this game to Sydney's physical mind games; They have been beating us and many with this tactic for years. I was overjoyed seeing him react aggressively to Aliir's attemp to boss our players. My god we need that. We have mostly passive type players compared to Sydney's and Viney can't be everywhere at once.

Hopefully his shoulder will be alright.

I only saw the highlights, but gee he presents a good option. Massive unit and has the strength to back it up.

I know we cant expect 4 full quarters from him, but if he can play that gorilla role and ruck relief with Max, he might be the pickup of the year.

This was a great coaching move by the brains trust. By playing Preuss out of the goal square Aliir was forced to play deep. Aliir was still effective but by making him start his rebound from deep in our 50 metre area he was nullified somewhat.

Makes you wonder if we would have done even better with a more mobile forward/relief ruck such as Kielty but on his form last night Preuss deserves his spot against the Saints.

PS... Useless fact... A Roman Century only had around 60 men except for the first century of  a legion which was double strength.

Pruess will definitely miss games this season due to suspension. He compliments our midfield and forward line well

Has quite a boot on him too. Listening to them mfc.com.au post-game interview, he got his 55m shot off the side of the boot. Imagine if he flushes one!

I fear he may miss a couple of games with that shoulder though

Acc. to Goodwin post-match interview he will be alright.

I know they play at opposite ends of the ground but, I would love to see Pruess clean up the 7 ft yank Mason Cox ?

If we can fun some crumbers to support him the potential is there

Hearing that no structural damage. Just will see how he pulls up before next week.

Had a good 10 day break so hopefully he pulls up well.

Saints have a short defence, so would be good to stretch them while we can.

If some of our players are not getting suspended this year,  we are playing too conservatively.

We need to play ON that line.    And take risks, and stand on some toes.

Traditional Mfc teams are very proper.

As Viney just said, we play better with some mongrel intent in our minds.

I simply feel Melbourne is a better side when he plays. His presence oozes confidence. His skills will improve with more game time but the strength he gives around the contest simply makes them more formidable. I really don't like all the talk about how he'll inevitable get suspended, he simply gives a strong and authentic contest. I love the guy already.

Not sure how more hasn't been made of this. This was an utterly ridiculous goal for a big guy to shark. Amazing stuff.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

It was only a preseason match but the new look Demons spearheaded by new coach Steven King looked impressive as they put on a clinic against perennial cellar-dwellers North Melbourne as they cruised to an 80 point victory at Casey Fields.
