I was thinking the same.

Seriously congrats to Clarry.

About 10 more coming up for Oliver before his career is over.ย

Gawny steals the show. He is just so great to listen to.ย

Gray shouldn't even be in the team, let alone starting on a HFF.

Agree Jacko, both girls are lucky to have Gawn and Clarry as their partners!

Clarrie has played in the middle more than Martin should be a starting mid.

you take your pick of 2 HFF from Danger Higgins Gray and Martin you don't just accomodate the big names in the starting 18.

Devon Smith missing out is a joke, Jackson Mcrae and Yeo are also stiff but you're always going to have some tough storiesย

Totally agreeย

How did Mceae not make it?

ย

Shane Edwards wtf, and whatโ€™s up with Grundy was talking like he had just had a session with Sam Murrayย

Could have sworn Yeo would be in here.

According to one biased MFC supporter.

The experts thought otherwise.

Shaun Higgins? Really?

Higgins had a brilliant year, he deserved to be rewarded.ย

Great to see Clarry in, 1 of very many Iโ€™d say.ย

Franklin captain.ย

No training boys, get on the eccys!

I'm happy with Clarrie on the bench.

Just as happy that media darlings Crotchin, and De Goey aren't in the team.ย

Yeo and Macrae unlucky to miss.

Know that the selectors have not acknowledged a "Stellar" year! and have no idea! What a player!

Really putting it on the line picket... haha :)

Buddy as captain is bizarre. On what basis did they arrive at that decision?

ย

Elliot Yeo was the BIG ONEย too miss out for me along with Jack McRae! ?

Yeo missing out was like Jeremy Howe missing out on Mark of the Year last season... Thatโ€™s exactly what it was! ??โ€โ™‚๏ธ

Yeo before Whitfield

McRae before Sidebottom

Gunston and Edwards were the two surprises for me... I havenโ€™t seen a lot of them play this season though.

Stewart was a toss up with Stratton and Grimes and Iโ€™ll add Jetta (even though he wasnโ€™t named in the squad I thought he should have been). Iย have seen Stewart play this season and is a beast of a player.ย Deserved hisย spot!ย

Clarry could of easily been swapped with Martin.

Clarry in the centreย and Martin on the bench!ย

I feel because Martin has won a Brownlow he seems to be an automatic selection! I donโ€™t like this... I think he was lucky to be AA this year!

Not quite sure what your beef is in this thread. I saw around 10 predicted media sides in the last week or so, and all had him in the side (all bar one starting). So to continually try and call out posters for bias seems a little odd.

Most supporters wanted to see him get his just reward, and as far as I'm concerned, he did, as I couldn't care less about starting vs bench.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourneโ€™s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle.ย As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nationโ€™s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.ย

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
