Gee.. we were into him big time.. he could have been Toumpas 2.0..

He looked ok, but not all that fit and not impressively big, skilled or quick. Add in the likelihood he does a hammy at any time and it's probably a risk we don't bother with. Taylor has shown an interest in getting in guys they liked in their draft years though. He's clearly a guy you'd try to get to train with the ground in October/Nov and see how he's going if you were at all interested.

Absolute pass from me.  If it was 2014 I'd look at it, but we have no need for an injury prone mid who has lost his prized asset, pace, due to so many injuries.

I'm surprised the Saints didn't give him another year though after finally getting him fit.  Richo musn't have liked what he saw and, if that's the case, then I fail to see why we would even consider taking a look at him.

Something not right here...they take years to get him right he plays a couple of games, seems to be going ok.

Then gets dropped for team balance????

wasn't the choice btw him, salem, and lewis taylor with pick 9 way back when?

his body has been pretty good for the last two years, at least from a soft issue perspective

i wonder if we'll kick the tyres...

We dodged a bullet here

Ash's Demons wanted him badly from memory. Posted regularly about him on top of several calls to SEN

It's tragically poetic that he remained on an AFL list for so long, only to then be delisted a few weeks after finally making his debut.

There is talent there, but unfortunately his body's not up to it.

Scott Gumbleton II.

I can recall myself thinking he was a real looker. Apparently not ??

Given the year they've had, not much leeway down there at the moment I suspect.

I know little about him, but we already have one injury-prone talented junior on our list in Pat McKenna, and that doesn't seem to be working out too well, so hard to see Freeman being of interest.

McKenna is looking ok in the 2’s

Can we take him as a category B rookie? Hasn't been on an AFL list for a few years, just St Kilda.

(sorry, any excuse to work out some of the anger)

Always had extreme leg speed but sadly his body hasn’t stood up to the rigours of AFL football, extremely frustrating I would imagine when you are as good an athlete as this chap.

At least he got a debut. It'd be tragic if he played out half a season in the VFL and then got delisted!

Worth a rookie pick - may come good... may drop off the earth, but as a flip of the coin I think it is worth it.

No from me. Delisted by the saints is enough to turn me off him.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
