Considering this happened in the 2nd quarter and he played out the game I would say this is super minor.

We are probably just being cautious this week as we play the suns. I would expect him to play against the swannies

Most goal assist in the league? Heard that mentioned on a footy show or during the replay I watched. Hopefully back in v swans.

Sounds right to me.  From what I also recall, he is well up there for contested marks inside 50 as well.

Its not oliver. Can be covered but he's an important cog in best 22.

I like Melksham and what he brings to the team, but this could be a bit of a bleesing. Feel like our forward lines been functioning a bit predictably and gone a tad stale since that purple patch a couple of months ago. Could be good to bring in a fresh face for a coupla weeks. *Cough* vandenberg.

Is a Bleesing like a Toumpasing?

Exactly.

Apparently channel 7 said 3 weeks.

FMD we are not having a good run are we? I suppose when you look at GWS, Sydney and Collingwood tho, we haven’t got much to complain about. Yet. I’m sure next week 3 more will go down or something.

Bugg has been playing good footy for a long time and has played well up forward. He’s the one I’d go with

I'm not confident with his foot skills or his set shots. Love the endeavour of the bloke but he lacks quality.

There's nothing in the MFC article which says the club knew about it as at the second quarter. Melksham could have noticed it, tried to run through it, played the game out, but reported it later. So let's not pot the club just yet.

However, given how our recent injuries have been going, I can't help but shake the feeling that this is more serious than the club has stated so far. I wouldn't be surprised to see him, and Hibberd, back no earlier than the GWS game.

Funny that hey..

Billy Stretch voices his concern prior to the Freo game that his foot is a bit sore, yet medical team told him just run it out to warm it up..

Next minute,  season over!

Is that true?

Unfortunately it’s not.

If you do a hamstring you don't "run out the match". It risks further damage, even if you can run at all.  Standard recovery is 2 weeks, with most club physio's resting for 3 to be certain.

I don't know why ALL clubs, not just ours, participate in this type of charade.

Confirmed by kerry Lambert off the Dees podcast who was talking to Billy while out with lunch from somone that works at the footy club.

Delusional.

I've increasingly come to think this about injuries: It's not like we have to field 21 vs 22. As long as our depth is good and our intent is there, our selected 22 can beat any other selected 22. Collingwood proves this.

Still wish we could select Lever, Viney, Melksham and Hibberd though.

Yikes, where did 3 weeks come from? In the space of a few hours:

- Minor Hammy

- May miss this week and possibly next

- will miss 3 weeks

- Jack Watts

FMD -- where is the exorcist to rid us of the CONS?

IF neither Kent nor Bugg get a gig then surely their 'cards are marked'.

That said, vandenBerg has been gradually building up a case.

Maybe Hannan if fit could be a decent like-for-like.

So whos right, Misson or Channel 7?  If its channel 7,   Misson has got to go.

But elite performance manager Dave Misson was confident Melksham wouldn’t be sidelined for too long, saying it was a “very minor strain”.

“It happened in the second quarter, but he played out the match,” he told Melbourne Media.

“Even though Jake’s pulled up well, we don’t want to risk him this round.

“We’ll reassess him next week.”

True! He had a handful of games though and a couple of goals. Good effort.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
