There was no evidence that we saw where it shows the ball hitting the post but you could clearly see Tracc's arm holding the ball hit the post.

That just has to be wrong.  The ball has to hit the post or go completely over the line.  Tracc's arm grzed the post while he was holding the ball, but that is not the same as. the ball touching the post.

Need to judge Garlett on what he does, not on what you know he can do. He’s obviously capable of better, but under conditions that were trying for all the forwards, he played his role.

Look, I really wish he could get back to the exciting form of the past,it would improve the side markedly, however I genuinely fear he's lost it.

Sometimes it's easy to focus on what a player doesn't do well and lose sight of what they can do well.  Frost's size, speed and strength were a welcome addition to a back-line that has struggled since Lever went down.  He'll still occasionally frustrate, but he's clearly the best second tall and he'll make life far easier for Oscar.  If he plays to his limitations he'll be pivotal to the remainder of our season.

Billy is a neat player, but I didn't see any AFL quality attributes.  I did last night.  He worked hard, showed some zip, positioned himself well and made himself an option.  He can become an accomplished AFL player.  He's also testament to a player working on their craft at the next level down and showing how sustained form in the VFL can make you a better player.

Happy to say I was wrong on both.

We are so far off that been a consideration it’s not funny, it’s 50-50 if we even play finals this year.  ANB is 22 and not even 50 game into his career for a player of his age and experience he is well ahead of the curve so far as development goes, Jones was also a horrible user of the ball ealier in his career and while it never became elite it got to the point of been passable.

Do yourself a favour and take out the Brisbane game and check when he last had significant impact in any game including Casey, I think you'll find it's around round 17 last year. That's 1 good game in nearly 12 months, like I said hope he comes good but not holding my breath.

I don't share the fear either mate, and I am hopeful that this stint at Casey will galvanise him to the point that he is constantly chasing, harrassing and pressuring the opposition as much as possible.  I feel like he is only a game or two away from really getting back to some good form and he can still be a real X-factor type player for us over this final part of the season.

Time will tell. Hope he proves me wrong.

While it's hard to gauge against a side like Freo, I think the midfield have been able to work out the clearance issues we were having a few weeks ago.  Last night we won the clearances 42-28, but this time it felt as though we weren't getting in each others way as much.  It felt as though we spread much better, giving us an outlet handpass that we could then use to run out of the stoppage.  It did help that Gawn was able to dominate Darcy and Apeness, but it seems as though we're working far better in there than previous weeks.

Jeez Oliver was good last night in his 50th.

I know for sure that when a goal ump is standing in front of the post and the ball hits him/her then it is deemed a point. I am not sure what the same ruling is for a player though. Having said that I think it was reasonably clear that the ball didn't touch the post so the only option is that Tracc's arm (that was holding the ball) hit the post - he seemed to push off with that arm.

As usual the AFL Rules of the Game don't mention this at all. Like so many things they make it up as they go...

Absolutely believe Coaches and match committee have lost us some games with poor selections

Frost now stays in for the rest of the year, Ditto Jeffy and Stretch gets a block of games to prove his worth, Still not sold on Spargo and reckon Vince still has some value, but competition for places hots up with Casey winning at Artic park yesterday as well.

I agree about the AFL Rules, but surely you have seen many goals kicked when the player was in contact with the post.   So if your guess at the rules is correct then that would have been called a behind before he kicked it.

I’m in the camp of there must have been good reasons why frost stretch and Garlett were playing at Casey and defended the decision, however watching them play yesterday especially frost and stretch I agree that it was a couple of games late and we may have been sitting on a couple of extra wins had that been the case.

RE: Spargo, I’m definitely convinced. He is a first year player so I don’t have high expectations in terms of consistency etc but he has without doubt shown he has the goods to be a valuable contributor to the team for years to come.

I don't understand why the umpire should be able to call a video review in that situation at all. No score was called, play went on then in a different piece of play Garlett kicked a goal. How far back are they allowed to go with the video review? If no score is called at the time of the incident then it is "play on" and the umpire should not be allowed to revisit it after the fact. What if play had continued for 30 seconds in the goal square between Petracca running into the post and the eventual goal? Still subject to review?

Yeah the more I think about it I think you are right. 

So with no clear evidence the ball hit the post how in the hell have they called it a point?
