I think hunt might be a pernament forward or traded by the years end. Depends who we recruit, who kicks on and who doesn't.

Not even close.   Hunt cant even lock down a  position as hes not a natural footballer.

Langdon averaged 25 touches last season...   Hunt will never average over 20, ever, even if he played full time in the midfield.

They both averaged 4.5 score involvements last season, this with Hunt playing forward all season.

Langdon is twice the player.

One averages 25 disposals , the other is a one trick pony with poor awareness, average kicking skills and very poor handballing skills.

The way Richmond run the ball is purely due to the fact that at any given point, 80% of their side is trying to run to create an option or space for someone else. 
 

If we can get back to running for each other, it will go a long way to helping us jump back up the ladder. Both T-Mac and Weid are lead up forwards, so they should be licking their lips at the thought of genuine movement on either wing

The lack of running to create space even knowing that it will not reset in a possession to the runner has been a longstanding bugbear of mine.

Creating options and creating space just opens up the forward line so much.

Burgess isn't going onto the field - it is the player's responsibility, with the help of the fitness staff.

With the help of fitness staff, and creative coaching this may happen.

I think our shepherding/blocking or lack thereof is disgraceful.

I don't remember too many great shepherds in recent times, you have to want to do it for each other and our blokes didn't in 2019

Another indication of our fitness woes. Hard to raise second and third efforts if you are spent from your first one.

 

Hunt is still learning his potential, a couple of years ago, he showed he could be a gun, and still can be. 

Has a higher ceiling than langdon imo

If he can get his confidence and belief going he has the ability to be a star, cmon jaiden, hunt the footy, hunt the ball carrier, tackle with intent, take em on more, never give up, play like a possessed demon.

He and Langdon should be trained to look to use their handball after they go on a run, and teammates should be trained to get into a position to either receive a handball, or protect them.

If they have to kick after a run, dont bomb it just kick it into space, and follow it up

Has Langdon attended training yet?

I think there was some discussion on this before, and it was suggested that this lack of shepherding, thwarting etc, was at coach's directions. Find this interesting though...

The thought of having two absolute jets in terms of speed on our team really excites me. 

I think we need to play hunt of half back and Langdon on a wing.

Langdon has always had endurance. Was elite at schoolboy cross country.

Hunt might be able to develop it...

Not sure this necessarily follows. Yes you need a basic level of fitness to execute  but our problems stem from a confused game plan, no trust in our team mates to run and spread. This is part fitness but its also getting burned on the turnover and the ball sails back over your head and before too long players start playing for themselves not the team.

This is why I believe our problems this year were way more than injuries. The game plan fell apart and they were like deer in the headlights with ball in hand. When that happens you invite pressure, the ball gets turned over more often and skills look very ordinary. Its a vicious circle.

Richmond by way of example are happy run fwd of the ball and chance their arm. As a team they are comfortable and not under the same pressure we are. B grade players look like A graders in a team orientated game like that. If they stuff up they don't have the same fallout that we have becuause they have been to the top and trust that it works.

Howe who left the Dees as a more than capable kick, handpass and sensational mark ? he was ahead of Hunt when he walked in the door.

Started the season like a rocket with 31 touches but has been a little quiet the last fortnight.

Can't kick and is a liability at the monent. If he learns how to kick he could be a great player 

I prefer Hunt.

Noticed he was always a running option down the wing for our ball carriers who mainly failed to use him and instead kicked to a contest. So yes he has been a bit quiet. 

Exactly the same player he was at Freo.    Not sure if thats good or bad.

They look alike, that's where the comparison to Hunt should end. One gets his hands on the ball, the other doesn't.

Langdon gets enough of the footy but isn't damaging enough, which was the same flaw he had back at Freo but clearly it hasn't been resolved in his first pre-season with us. With such similar (poor) ball use from his fellow Dees I'm not surprised.

EDIT 16 disposals from his last two games is not a fantastic return from a winger with high raps, so I'd be expecting more from him plus first initial criticism to be more efficient.

In terms of Langdon, he's been fine. Obviously not to the standard as he would like but he's not alone.

He's also just ticked over 70 games so he's coming up to that 10o game mark where we'll really start to see the best of his football. Only 24 years of age so has many good years ahead of him. 

You tend to forget he was in the same draft as Petracca/ Bradshaw.
