I think if we get Thomlinson and Langdon we will have done well given were bottom 4. they are role players but definitely give us much need pace. and for goodness sake recruit some pace and class in the draft.

I highly doubt it will happen, so I'll say that first. but don't rule out the pre-season draft. Langdon is desperate to get out of Freo now, he's not leaving on good terms with some teammates. So if Freo stuff around, there's a chance he'll walk himself. players normally don't go to the PSD because they are grateful for the opportunities given and want their former club to get something, but he wants out as soon as possible and structured his life to do that.

While I agree that it's highly unlikely, he runs the risk of being drafted by Gold Coast if he did that. If it did happen, I would hope we warn GC to butt out after they received Pick 2 PP. If they then did take him, I would hope Melbourne would then go hard for someone to spite them in the next trade period.

He's coming, will be done and circumstances in which he's leaving won't see them holding us to ransom. There may be semantics but pick 21 or whatever it ends up being

Yeah he has publically stated he wants to come to Melbourne, that's why it's gone quiet. If it gets noisy again, we worry.

If they didn't get the PP, or it ended up later than pick 2, then maybe we could arrange to trade pick 2 to them, with extra's coming back - picks, King etc. with a handshake agreement that if Langdon goes to the PSD they don't touch him. Highly doubtful it's going to happen anyway.

I think it's just that it's a bit boring.

It was rumoured all year and all but confirmed a month ago... nothing much the media can add to spice up an open-and-shut case.

If... if Gus was to be traded, I'd like Langdon + Cerra for Gus + 20.

Would rather keep Gus if possible.

Yep, Shockers would need to chuck in their first rounder or Cerra for it to even come close to consideration.

Brayshaw -The guy came third in the Brownlow last year, had a rough year this year.  Value would be a first rounder minimum.  They might want him, but I think that would be separate to the Langdon deal.  It might be Langdon for 21 might be the first trade made - it looks fairly open and shut.

Ray, I have looked closely at Tomlinson recently and in my opinion, pace is not one of his assets. I think he can run all day, however, he is a real plodder.

I think that will suit us, given how slow we generally move the ball, a bloke with real acceleration would be out of kicking distance by the time the ball holder decides what to do with it.

He’s 193cm tall. I don’t know many blokes that size who are fleet of foot.

Walk up starting 22 player who can run all day and fill a void. I’ll take him please.

We can't draft speed, it's a proven  fact any player  recruited by Melbourne automatically becomes 20% slower.

Agree.  Langdon has pace. Tomlinson has no pace. Was staggered by the comment.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
