I very cool and calm, and fierce for a little first year player. Smart kid.

And Jeffy could well look at the intense pressure he applies, even when not directly in play.     IMVHO he has already displaced Jeffy.

Love the calmness. Love the vision. Love that he’s always thereabouts or laying the tackle.

There's been a lot of commentary around Spargs on where he's best position is. Have mentioned a few pages back that i saw some of his junior years play as a genuine midfielder. And a bloody good one too. 

The half forward role he is currently playing is for his own physical development. He is still slight and still building up his engine. Goodwin is not going to chuck Spargo in the center and smash him to bits. I would think over this year we will start to see him push up to a wing to utilise his smarts and cleanliness with ball in hand.

Over the next few years i would like to think that Goodwin will start to play him in his natural position as an on baller who rests up forward. Obviously he needs to build his frame but that will come naturally with more pre seasons under his belt.

Lets not forget that this kid is still only 19 years old.

The price for that development is Jeff Garlett's career. I don't think Spargo has been best 22 all year. We lack genuine forwards on our list and Jeff is perhaps the most natural forward on our list. Spargo should be doing most of his development at Casey. I would like to see Jeff get a go, we would probably be a better team for it. If Jeff does not work out he can be dropped. I fear his cards have been stamped and he will be traded or delisted.

At first glance, he doesn't have enough tricks or the ability to crumb for goals from pack spillage for mine. He works best where the okay requires a cool head and the ability to think things through rather than raw instinct or freakish skills. Jeffy has the edge on him in the latter case and that makes him the better natural small forward. That being said, Jeffy could never move into the midfield which I could see Spargo doing.

One problem of playing him as a small forward is that you DO have to take advantage of anything that comes your way in that position. On your worst days, you can get supply that leads to the type of stats a list clogger gets. That's not great for a kid who wants to audition for a ball winning mid.

Jeff scores 16 goals from 11 games last year when we were scoring freely. Tackling and pressure were down. He will have to string more than one good Casey game together before goody picks him I reckon. 

Id prefer Spargo at the moment. Not good last week but he has the right attitude and has lots of potential 

Surprised he’s not more popular on here.

His vision in traffic and passing is sublime.  He always looks for a teammate in a better position and gives away a lot of goals that most small forwards would kick themselves.

Such a good prospect for the future.

I too believe he’s more of a natural midfielder, as that’s where he excelled as a junior and he’s definitely not a natural crumber up forward. I rate his smarts as a footballer, but he’s been very poor this year. So far this season he’s averaging:

0.5 tackles 

1 goal assist

You cannot carry a small forward who lays a one tackle every second match and does not score at all. He needs to find form as currently on output he’s not best 22.

He has to start sticking some tackles. He gets brushed aside far too often.

There is nothing wrong with his game when he has ball in hand.

Spargo has started playing up around the ball a bit more this year, rather than deep fwd. Bit more of an ANB type role. Coaches also rate what blokes do when they havent got the ball as well. Also I would of thought it was Hunt who is keeping Jeffy out of the fwd line at the moment. He's our speed down around goal at the moment and is a lot harder at it than Jeffy.

0 stats in the first quarter. Not good enough. Needs to step up big time to hold his place.

Zero confidence.

He needs a break in the 2s.  No shame in that; he’s young and inexperienced, but he’s struggling this year.

Linked up nicely twice then had a shocker of a turnover under no pressure which looked very lazy.

Zero tackles to half time however is the biggest glaring stat for me. Isn’t this what he is meant to bring?

Very disappointing today. Needs a massive second half or it will be Jeffy time vs the tigs

This bloke is an absolute dud. Why pick such a short slow player with such a high draft pick?

Can’t run, can’t kick and cant tackle so,  right now ,  why the [censored] are we picking him. I don’t want to permenantly write him off as he was valuable last year but whatever he bought then just isn’t visible this year. Has to go. 

Yep, he was terrible today and has been all year. 2nd year blues kicking in. Casey beckons for him for a while.

Back to the 2's but I"ll stick with him long term. Has the smarts and the vision, just needs to be playing in a side that isn't a complete mess. A little worrying that in year 1 he'd throw himself at the contest and get to a lot of good spots and this year he's all at sea but that happens some times.

No Pace, Cant lay a tackle, cant kick over a jam tin, and did I mention . He seems to be keeping out a player who has kicked over 300 goals. Name of Jeff Garlett.

But we dont seem to be able to fit him into the team.

Yep Spargo will be a great player no doubt!!
