Adelaide know you have to pay overs to lure talent.  The Jake Lever thread will show you how fans view such things...

I think it's absurd that they think we should offer draft pick compensation according to the size of our Lever offer, and yet they couldn't fit him into their cap because 650k was their maximum. They want to come out 150k on top in equivalent draft picks when our list is more shallow and aren't stacked with players. We have to pay 800k equivalent in draft picks? This skews the system towards top clubs because we are the ones that come out even and they are the ones that get value that tips them over their 650k cap value. They made no sacrifices by trading out players to give Lever a bigger 800k offer, now they expect to keep the players they didn't trade AND get players worth the extra money?

If Danger move to Gold Coast on 1.5million a year, would Geelong expect to get the equivalent in picks and players? That would mean they're getting 700k extra in player talent and GCS are giving up 1.5million. No, I think they should expect to get 800k in value, exactly how they valued him with their cap squeezing.

Now that Lever didn't finish in the Crows top 10 at B & F.

Surely we can tell them that  Pick 10 &  27 are off the table LOL!

Rubbish.

Jack broke his own contract twice that we know about by not meeting minimum standards in preperation.

Conspiracy theorists trying to link the Hogan noise to the Watts trade will be disappointed

I would start at 3 first rounders for Hogan. Contracted player who is a key forwArd that we payed 2 first rounders for originally.

Since then we have developed him from the age of 17 to be primed for next 10-12 years.

3 first rounders is what I feel is needed to get it done.

3 first rounders? you've got to be kidding. reality is, he has a lot of talent but he has a lot of holes in his game.  defensive pressure is horrible, his game day attitude and staging for frees is a culture killer and his kicking for goal is very hit and miss. lever got 1 first rounder and he was in the AA squad. hogan isnt remotely close to being an AA forward unless he fixes these things.

I agree with the essence of this post, but Jesse's trade value would be two top 10 picks. You seem to be suggesting he'd only be worth one first rounder in line with Lever. However, CHF is a position a lot harder to fill than CHB, if that's even the position we're saying Lever occupies.

Reckon it's a moot point as Jesse will stay IMO, but if he does decide to leave, I'm comfortable knowing our FD would ensure we'd be adequately compensated.

Adelaide have offered motlop $600k is that for real?

That has a direct bearing on the level of compensation Geelong yet for him leaving.

I really don't know how the scale works but you'd be thinking mid 20's??

If we're to apply some recent Demonland logic, I think it's now fair to assume that with Hogan's announcement that he's staying, Jesse must be fully supportive of the move to to publicly castrate Jack Watts and send his carcass to Collingwood - perhaps even part of the sinister MFC clique behind the chilling conspiracy.

Maybe if Watts goes to Collingwood he can still kindly dart the ball into Hogans chest on game day for us ?

(Aside, anyone else worried about Hogan not kicking for goal from outside 50? That is one thing that Watts does do well)

Yep, this concerns me. But not to the extent that either should stay or go. I'm more concerned that both need to offer repeat contests and develop a genuine hunger for kicking goals by believing they're always in with a sniff - regardless of whether they're being man-handled, double-teamed, receiving poor delivery, being mistreated by the umps, or, especially, if the opposition already has the ball. Own the forward-50 and make the defenders sweat. Like it's your territory and they're the ones behind enemy lines.

Petraccattack - living on the other side of the globe, I'm used to getting up at ungodly hours to watch the football. But did you just set your alarm four hours in advance on a Monday morning in anticipation of Trade Week? #fistedforever.

I can not wait for Trade Radio to start, I havent heard Terry Wallaces gravely yet soothing voice since last trade period.

This is what footy is all about.

Sucks to be us......

I get up at 6.30am every morning to go work in a panty-factory. And then trudge home to write for a porno magazine at night. Forget the glamour - every day sucks or is about sucking.

Postscript: and I would assume it was binman who was the one with the legitimate gripe for having to get up early?

We don't need to wait for Trade Radio when this morning's news on 3AW is informing us that Hogan has confirmed that he is not leaving Melbourne (despite his Perth meeting with Fyfe)! ?

Has Lever signed yet?

I believe he's verbally agreed to terms - so close enough.

Also heard on 3aw this morning that Lever was spotted training with Viney on the weekend

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
