Changes versus Collingwood

Featured Replies

We have so much more to play for than them so if there's ever a game where we need to break the opposition early it's this one.

Make it too hard for Collingwood early and they'll start to see the end of the season in sight and drop off in intensity. If we give them a good start and keep them in it though it'll be a torrid afternoon....

This is all about just getting a job done...In reality it's only EVER about getting a job done.

Ppl need to put away their 'allegiances" and their 'enmity' towards others.

Just pick for the job.

Saturdays game will be full of niggle.  It wont be a pushover. Buckley is coaching for his survival.  He'll rev up his charges to put the sword to these heathen Demons.  They can put ALL their eggs into one basket as that basket only has to last til about 4.30 on Sat arvo.

This is not necessarily about picking your 'wondrous" best 22 . It IS about picking a side to get a job done  and then preparing itself for the next four games!!

There will be casualties...indeed sacrifices along the way.

It's a bit hard to believe that Collingwood doesn't already have enough information to decide whether Buckley will be re-appointed for 2018. In other words, the performance of the team or the coach shouldn't make a difference if Collingwood was a well-run club. But it obviously isn't, so it's conceivable that this game might actually make a difference to that decision. Which might make it more problematic for us than it otherwise should.

So it should be a good game to prepare us for the finals.

If we don't win, shows we aren't ready for the finals.

A good win this week would build some momentum going into the finals.

If Watts & Salem come in for Stretch & Wagner as many suggest, will improve our skills and hopefully after their spell in the twos will also help lift their intensity!

If Watts comes back and turns in another insipid performance, it would be enough for me to close the door on his career at the club. This, of all games, is where Watts needs to be hungrier than ever.

But with Jesse kicking goals and Pedobear on fire Goodwin would be well within his rights to not risk the mix with Watts inclusion.

For those saying the Mac's played badly........Bris forwards kicked 3 goals in their total of 14,   Most of bris goals came from their midfielders

Close (1)

Hipwood (1)

Barrett (1)

I thought the defenders did a pretty good job, after all the defenders job is to stop their opponents from scoring

Who ever comes in needs to be able to kick it to a team mate.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe Buckley has already put a line through Wells.  Taylor Adams would be a huge out also, and it wouldn't surprise me if they don't risk him.

Having said that, it's just the sort of game we've dropped in the past.  Not taking anything for granted.

it's going to be very interesting to see what the coaching panel does

obviously it's a must win, but is this a dress rehearsal for the finals?

as such, surely watts and salem - ostensibly 'best 22' (whatever that means - basically fit, and in form) - have to come in to be part of the 'team' and 'structure' of the side?

and how does bringing them in effect that very structure?

then there's viney - we need him out there and part of it as well...but is he fit?

i would presume watts, salem and viney all come in, but frost was "afl-level" in his vfl match on the weekend...so does he come in given that the pies are quite tall, with reid, moore, and cox / grundy rotating?

then there's bugg, who was in excellent form before his brain-fade...

i honestly have no idea how they go about changing it this week

i would presume...

IN: salem, watts, viney
OUT: stretch, wagner, harmes

and in saying that i want harmes in as i think he goes hard offensively and defensively

but honestly...WHO KNOWS

Indeed Wise, we have a history of losing the unthinkable. Around this time last year a few membership cards were threatened with the microwave.

However, despite a couple of shockers this season, I reckon we are much stronger team both physically and mentally.

This weekend will prove it  ..... or not.

I am of belief Viney is ready, considering we need to win and have a weeks break IF we win. Viney will play.

I hope so? Doc Larkins on the AFL web site showed video of Jack at the match on Sunday and he looked like he was still in a bit of pain, so fingers crossed he can play.

i can't see the FD risking Viney for this game.... We can win it without him ( easier with , still probable without ) He'll be better for the rest to come back in Elim 1 ;)

Has strolled into AAMI park with crutches but not even using them

Viney has to play unless there is risk of worsening the injury.  if he is 80% then he plays, gets 2 weeks off and goes again

he is the baromter. Aish will take a look at Vineys face at the first bounce and crap his dacks

In: Watts. Salem   (Assuming Viney unfit) if fit: Viney

Out: Stretch Wagner   (If Viney fit: Hannan)

TEAM

B: Jetta - T Mac - Hibberd
HB: Hunt - O Mac - Lewis
C: Tyson - Jones - Vince
HF: Watts - Pedersen - Melksham
F: Petracca - Hogan - Garlett
Foll: Gawn - Oliver - Viney
I/C: Salem - Brayshaw - ANB - Harmes.

Substantially better side side than last week IMHO

Time to play our best fit 22.

In:

Watts must come in and play forward flank.  I thought he played quite well in very difficult conditions last week.  He is a true utility who can fill gaps anywhere on the ground should things go wrong. He brings players into the game in-particular Garlett. He deserves his chance to prove his spot prior to finals considering what he has been through as a true Dee patriot. He simply must play.

Salem: Too silky under pressure to leave out for crunch game. Simply a better player than both Wagner and Stretch.

Out:

Wagner:

Stretch:

Both unlucky but best 22 must play.

Viney needs two more weeks to be primed for finals.

Frost: could come in depending on Match-ups,

Agree with all of the above.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
