So the thing that stood out for me on the replay, after Gus gets a bump, Gawn running past and givining him a tap on his noggin, absolute gold, had me chuckling, Gawn is one of our heart beats without doubt, love the bloke. Commentators were funny as well, "don't pat him on the head pat him on the bum".

Well its the day after, and it apparently really happened - we stood up with our season on the line and beat a team also fighting to make the finals.

I guess this means we will lose to Brissy this week?

How could you tell it had been about 10 years?

I wear my 'traditional' scarf because I like it better than the modern ones and have been a Redlegs member for about 20 years so have plenty of members scarves to choose from!

And no one wearing red and blue should be called a [censored].  We need all the supporters we can get.

As always when we play well every player just plays his role.

Structures were better (except early on when we had zero options forward of the ball) meaning we could kick it more because we were less crowded around the ball. We still handpass too often but it was better.

Good to know that you have a ranking system worked out. Can cheers squad members spit on you because you only get to the local games? Just asking.

Yeah? Well that's great.. Let me know when he gets out of second gear pal.

Just about the biggest cheer of the day was when we finally received a free kick early in the final quarter.

Yes, that was a massive cheer and a key moment in the match (from which we got a goal and effectively snuffed out the Saints' challenge). It never ceases to amaze me how umps can change the momentum of matches with their decisions.  Third quarter case in point - Razor seemed to single-handedly will the Saints back into  the contest.

The free kick wasn't against Jetta....it was paid downfield because Longer blocked Tom McDonald from trying to get to a saints player & McDonalds arm went high.....quite soft.  Also on watching replay ....in 4th qrt when Harmes (&melb) finally got a free kick and the crowd roared...Sandy Roberts incorrectly assumed we were giving the Bronx cheers to Harmes because he hadn't scored a goal since qrt time.....listening to the commentary afterwards on TV ....I thought the only one that gave us a go was Dunstall

Not sure that is much of a qualification.

it is a bit like saying I go to every court case in Melbourne so that makes me a Judge.

Just be happy we won, finals are in sight and there where lots of MFC fans there.

There was a big contingent of very confused looking students at the top of the Olympic - some with a distinctive eastern European accents - trying to figure out what they needed to do, where to sit, deciphering what the food offerings were... etc.  Beneficiaries of the free tickets methinks, and a few of them had brand new merch on!  Hope they liked what they saw yesterday and come back!

Weideman, Garlett and Trac our three lowest ranked players on the day. That's half our forward line. Throw in Watts, Salem, Hogan not playing. We've been hit much harder by injuries, personal issues and poor form than the Bulldogs did last year. Not saying we'll win the flag but we're still playing with one of the least experienced sides in the comp and we've responded when we've needed to. I thought the Saints would run over us they way they played in the 3rd. Sometimes there are no surprises with this team like when we lost to North. But there has been equal number of surprises the other way. If we could get some frigging luck our way and get a run like Port has with injuries then we really could beat anyone. They've barely had an injury this year and can't beat a top 8 side.

Would still be a massive disappointment if we miss finals but it's been a character building season for this team, no doubt. They have to take confidence from yesterday. They just have to.

Imagine if Trac and Garlett had on days?

A big shout out to Milkshake who's not had the easiest of years, but not once, but twice received the ball and just about on one step went bang and kicked two great goals from around fifty meters out. Impressive yesterday.

I still wear the scarf I've had since I was about 6. Probably time to wash it...

Win or lose v Brisbane I know we will give it a crack. Should win it but we are still prone to drop quarters with turnovers when under pressure. Brisbane are playing well and no easy beats. Good signs if we start well and keep the foot down to win by 6-8 goals.

So what?

Not everybody could afford to go to every home game, others have family commitments on the weekends as it's the only time they have available, others come from country areas or interstate... there are so many valid reasons that people aren't able to be regular attendees. I and my son get to just a couple of games each year because a) We live in Sydney, and b) having no regular income (having been made redundant at the ripe old age of 63) makes it a financial stretch. I still pay mine and my son's memberships every year as do probably many of those you are deriding in your post.

But it does beg the question... how do you even know that they aren't regulars?

People say Garlett had a bad one, I saw opportunities for him to have kicked 4. You don't drop that

He was blanketed the opposition captain, high praise for Jeffy G. He won't be dropped.

Saw quite a few with pamphlets on the rules of the game (Shame someone didn't give them to the umps). They would have been rightly confused by what they saw but I was amused by hearing one say when reading the pamphlet "you mean they have to bounce the ball every 15 metres, that's weird"

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
