Wats has to go.

He has reverted to his pre 2016 self.  And that means we are playing  a man down each week.

So disappointing to see how bad hes been.

Pre 2014 self.. Which is saying something!!

I would have dropped Watts after last weeks pathetic performance

Can barely stand watching him play something seriously wrong!

Well they obviously have to refresh the team. Desperately need some run - where that's coming from, I don't know. Stretch is doing little with Casey. Brayshaw - good luck to him, but I can't see how he fixes anything. Watts is an obvious out, maybe Weidemann and Hannan in. Lose next week, and the [censored] really hits the fan.

I don't think it matters who comes in and who goes out we do not have the cattle. We love to dissapoint our suppoters,we don't do things in "spades". And to think we could miss the eight once again. An aldi $2.99 shiraz looks a safe bet.

"Angus Brayshaw was brilliant for the Demons, showing the flare which fans have come to expect from the young star. He tackled with strength and hunted the ball for 34 disposals, standing up when required at the death."

Get him in.

This and maybe Weid for Pedo. Fwd line is totally disfunctional at the moment so time for a change up and go for full mobility

He's done nothing to justify selection. Average player at best.

And we have so many champions in our side. I would rather 15 Stretch possessions than 30 Tyson ones. Tyson played a big part in Giants 6 turnover goals in first quarter.

OUT: MELKSHAM, HARMES, PEDERSEN

Watts shouldn't get dropped he's too important. He's not the only one out of form the whole team is out of form. There tackling pressure and 2 way running has been disgraceful the last 2 weeks. We were lucky not to get beaten by 10 goals, on a positive note Maynard looks like he can play the game.

ANB out for me. Should've been dropped for this weeks game after his 2 missed hanballs against the wind in the 3rd quarter last week cost us goals and the game.  Has had a numerous amount of brain fade moments this season trying to be too clever with his disposal and in general really frustrates me, along with Harmes.

Watts should be playing further up the ground as a link man and delivering the ball inside 50 for us because it's an area we are putrid at.  Maybe it's a result of the horrible grounds and conditions we have been playing the last 2 weeks, but I'd give him another week to see how he goes at the G.

Out: Melk, ANB, Harmes

In: Stretch, JKH, Hannan

I didn't get to see the game as I was watching Casey play but if the MFC need to bring in a KPP, going off his last month and especially today's game, Keilty might be a sneak for a debut.

I know I'm biased, but he was unbelievable today, played both forward and back and dominated both positions. Was easily the best game he has ever played.

I'm all for it Drunkn because I think we have a serious KPF issue, but can you give me some more info on Dec? Is he physically ahead of Weid? Can he get separation on a lead and take a grab? I can't remember the last time we had a forward capable of doing this regularly. How's his mobility? I've never seen him play, so would love to know more about him.

He's a rookie isn't he? Do we have an upgrade available?

Could Tyson's disposal be better? Absolutely. But I just think it's one of these things where you see what you want to see.

Re turnovers, a) he wasn't alone and b) at least he gets 30 possessions, which is more than can be said for some of the turnover merchants. Jones had a DE just over 50%, including 8 clangers, and I don't see too many people going after him for turning the ball over.

Tyson's an in-the-guts player, and to a large extent, most disposals are under pressure. Have you seen Dustin Martin's figures for clangers and disposal efficiency?

Agree on Jones yesterday. I thought he was terrible. Yes it was his first game back and he got a lot of the ball, but I thought he should have worn a butcher's apron, as he butchered possession after possession. Stats can lie but you generally see what you see when watching a game. At one stage I think he had about 10 possessions with 8 of them turned over. He actually picked out Giants players it appeared. Of course he is better than that and more game time will get him back to the way we know he can play.

However I think Tyson just simply has poor disposal, decision making and is to slow to react. To me he has always been that way and I fear he will remain that way.

In today's game you need nearly elite disposal as a mid and he doesn't have it.

I think we need to accept that we are not a great side yet and that we have deficiencies and they need to be worked on.

There are some positives however. I thought we played poorly, yet bar about 12 minutes in the first quarter we matched the Giants on the scoreboard even though our ball handling was terrible.

If our leaders had got the team to slowdown play during that 12 minutes we would still have been in the game.

We also have a major problem in leaking goals late in quarters, that needs to be fixed.

To me our failing is and has been poor disposal and lack of pace for a while now and that is what we need to fix

We'll make minimal changes this week. 1 at most outside suspension/ injury. We have been a very unsettled team the last 6 weeks.

We have finally got our best squad info the park, the squad that looked did good earlier this year.  We need to give them time tho find form individually (6 of our best Jones, Gawn, Viney, Salem, Vince and Watts have all missed football). And we need to give them tinge to click as a team; to get their roles working again, to cover each other, to bed info the right spot.

Also, I think that venue change still be very important for our game plan. We didn't adapt well to the suburban ground sizes and winds, perhaps partly due to our game on and partly due to our youth and inexperience.

I think Melksham might get off with a fine. It was low impact and the GWS player didn't flinch and continued on as if nothing happened.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team.
