Ive just been reading this article about the melbourne storm and it got me thinking.

Clearly the storm are the most mentally tough group in their comp.

Id argue that weve perennially been one of the weakest mentally in ours - and losses to the likes of northx2, freo and a essendons reserves last year are a testiment to that.

Especially given we share a training base we should be picking their brains as much as possible!!!

I have wanted The Melbourne Storm to work with The Demons for years!

Didn't during our dark days when we just moved to this location we did work with the Storm? I know for a fact we shared the gym with them

I remember Dermott telling a story with his smug face and pursed lips of how the Storm players had no respect for us and we didn't work hard enough in the gym. That was the gist of it anyway.

He wasn't the only one that said that. A few of the Storm players subtlety hinted at it. This was during the early Neeld year/s.

First thing Goodwin needs to do Monday is visit Craig Bellamy.

Storm have been the most successful club of any code for years.

There must be something they are doing right.

Get as much information as you can, you share a training base, utilise that intelligence.

We are all [censored] off at the moment, and we have a right to be.

Players don't hurt enough for this club, they are happy getting their $2000 per game plus whatever contract payment, they are treated like rock stars when actually they are anything but!!!

Until something changes, we will remain where we are, a mediocre Victorian club for many years to come.

With all due respect, one of the stupidest lines that gets trotted out from time to time.

When it comes to the storm they consistently lead by example and set the benchmark in the NRL and have done for last 15 years. The difference is they put there bodies on the line.[censored] Melbourne players still have to ask there mummies if they can get there balls out her handbag. What a soft [censored] effort to finish off.Half the team need to pack there bags and [censored] off.

Helps thst they have most of the Qld stste of origin team...just saying it helps to have talent.

They have great culture. They get players in from interstate who have battled in there clubs or players that have had disciplinary problems and they come to the storm and they arent allowed to get away with any bullshite. They soon learn the storm culture.

I reckon Cameron Smith would be a great mentor to Viney on how to be a great captain and take that extra step.

you can't compare with rugby league they get all their players from Queensland,  and of course they work harder in the gym they need to build huge muscle mass the AFL is more lean muscle mass,  put the Storm in a five kilometre time trial and their quickest won't even be as fast as our slowest.  yeah and they cheated the salary cap for many many years,  don't forget that's a big part of their culture as well.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
