Good news.

Given he's out of contract and North have contributed to pushing him out, I would have thought pick 23 (which is now pick 25) is about right.

There are no certainties in football and there's no certainty this is going to work for us, but I like the move and I think there's a strong chance this will make us a better side in 2021 and beyond.

Great get.

Cant remember the last time we had a recognised f/f who can kick goals. (since Neitz)

Welcome to the Dees BB.

Hard to tell where the hair ends and the fire starts! Welcome Ben.

Look forward to yelling ‘Sideshow’! As he takes a mark and nails the goal from 50 many times at the ‘G!!!

A good nickname is multi-dimensional with a degree or two of seperation.

With that in mind, I think his nickname should be 'Bobby' as in Sideshow Bob and Bobby Brown.

To be fair mate. This one was common knowledge

HUGE get. I don’t think some on here quite realise how important this is.

For years we’ve had no issues getting it into our forward 50 but conversion has been the issue. This guy is the answer to this massive problem we’ve had.

The only query was whether he was okay injury wise but our medical team has given him the tick of approval so it’s full steam ahead.

What a signing he will be, great stuff Dees!

He's also going to be a decoy forward to some extent, at least. This is also very good; it will reduce the onus on the Weed and Fritta so they can get stuck into it as alternative targets as BBrown leads out or moves to space just a little, dragging one or two opposition defenders with him and with his mobility, speed and possible distance achieved from goal, congested gaps will disappear leaving space, space and fewer oppo defenders. It is all very good news. Now, for the midfield clearances ...

I dunno @Cheesy D. Pun - a good nick name never needs a walk-through explanation.

If we had him in 2018, dead cert's for the premiership!

Your modesty is admirable good sir! However, in all honesty, the Smith to Dees move was also pretty much common knowledge and expected by all and sundry, until he did an 11th hour u-turn.

I think the fanbase forfeited any right to suggest nicknames after milkshake.  ??‍♂️

I reckon that pick is overs for him, something early 30's is his range, hopefully the pick we get for Preuss will be the Pick 30 GWS received for free agent and we on trade that.

First order of business, a haircut.

Next year's second round pick... that would (or should) be in the 30's.

You still have to kick into the forward line to a forward. Something we haven't done well for a long time.

Agree. Fritta may benefit with a few more chances as a result of this.

Our current pick 25 will end up sliding to 35-40 with all the free agency picks and academy bids, I'd rather give that than next years second rounder where next years draft will be stacked with talent.

Fair point. My thinking was that this might give us some more leverage when it comes to further trades this year (I assume we're still looking at a winger and possibly a small forward).

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.
