Excellent post exactly my thoughts on Jackson, we won't be so predictable always going to max out of defense and once at the wing still have tall targets inside 50 to kick to. Could be a real weapon for us having Jackson, Brown Weed, and Maxy as marking targets all over the ground

This.

And just having the name Brown in that list adds a sense of focus we haven't had since Hogan left. Then add in May, Lever Tomlinson and it appears we have a spine, and one with flexibility and power, and upside.

I reckon by the end of next year with another year of development, he’ll fly by many. I also believe he will overtake Weid before 2022.

He is one quick learner Jacko and as keen as mustard and oh so competitive.

He will do ruck forward and mid next season and have a good season going all of that .

But we already have the name Brown on our list.

Don’t forget it was not until a couple of years ago that he fully concentrated on football. He has a ton of development in him.

Might have to call one of them "Blue", just to avoid any confusion...

(I was gonna suggest "Green".  But, a Brown called Green has the political overtones of that former Green called Brown...!)

RE: Brown. the market is very slim. the Saints think they're out of the race. Bombers have another target key forward, which on their part i think is a better decision for them.

We're as good a fit for Brown as he is for us. the guy is an incredible player and Sam Weideman and Luke Jackson are going to learn a lot from him in terms of forward craft.

Freo's the one that's been mentioned. I think Essendon will look to get younger talls in.

Collingwood probably have to keep both Mihocek and DeGoey (and Daicos, Moore etc).

If Sydney lose Aliir then all of a sudden McCartin is looking far more likely down back, Blakey looks more like a mid/forward and they are going in to a season when they've done a lot of heavy lifting rebuilding with only Reid and the ghost of Buddy.

I think Polec is more damaging with ball in hand.

Personally id  take either Polec or Phillips..... I'm easily pleased but either of those blokes would be handy at our club.

The Weid's going learn so much he might even write a paper on the prevailing breeze at Casey fields.

I'd be happy with that length assuming the medicos are happy with his body.

If it's five as LH posted I'd start to have some concern

I'd be happy for ONE super season that's leads to a...... well I can't say it.

I don’t know why you’re getting so cut up about Brown possibly coming to us.

If Tmac goes and we get another year of development into Jackson then Weideman and Brown can easily be the two main talls.

Our one is more beige that Brown.

Brown could stay at North as per his manager on Sport 927 today.

Ben Brown is willing to listen if North Melbourne gives him a call.

Brown’s manager Adam Ramanauskas said there was still a chance they key forward could line up for the Kangaroos next year.

“If North Melbourne were to make the phone call, everything has to be considered. But at the moment there’s no phone call being made,” he told the Breakfast Club.

Yesterday North Melbourne announced that senior coach Rhyce Shaw had mutually agreed to part ways with the club and there is a possibility whoever takes the reigns wants Brown to stay.

“I’m sure Ben, being the person that he is, would be happy to listen.

Shut up Adam!!!!

The fact his own club hasn’t bothered to make a phone call until now, says to me they don’t really want him there.

Sounds like he is posturing and wanting either more money or a longer contract from us.

Sounds like a last ditch effort to drive up his price to me...

Definitely about his contract. the big thing that's hurting him at the moment is we have no serious competition for his signature.

Appears to me to be an attempt to make sure the marketplace knows that Brown leaving is a lot more to do with NM than him.

You think they would have learnt from their contract negotiations With NM.

Cant say I like this approach but I suppose it’s part of the bs.

This was actually last week that this article came out. I was even listening to this on radio.

This didn't come out yesterday as you have noted.

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
