I don't care if every player kicking for goal does a Nadal before serving, just want someone anyone to kick the ball between the Big sticks. He's a goal kicker.

To be honest, I would just love to ruffle my hands through his fuzzy hair if given half a chance. Indeed, with further restrictions likely into next year I think clubs need to get creative in what they can offer their membership-base. Given the chance to play with Ben's hair and I'd probably buy a membership for both me and my Jack Russell. His name is Jack. It was meant to be a pun but it's not very creative. Still, you should see him with a scarf on. Squee.

It’s an interesting question. But the more interesting thing is why north is so keen on moving him out after offering a big deal 12 months ago.

Probably a bigger question is how would Mr Floppy go with crap delivery?

Id say yes... but. Not at huge cost  and due diligence needs to be done

What exactly was Brown's issue this year

Im not holding any inside info but I believe it was his knee. I just find it hard to believe that suddenly they're looking to turf him out for a second rounder unless there is some serious issues. We'd be stoked to get a second rounder for Tmac would we not?  We  really do need to do due diligence here.

Trading Ben Brown is the least of his worries.

it has been suggested that Rhys is not in a good place at the moment.  Reluctant to say any more but it is on the web if you care to look.  Very sad if true.

Very recently (very) heard that Tom Mc has been told he will be elsewhere in 2021.

They must have someone in the wings.

You’ve said this a few times in this thread, interested to hear more of you can say.

North have really hit the skids this season.

AFL will push North to go to Tassie.

Could be a consequence of getting COVID assistance from AFL.

Happy for us to go to Tassie. never thought I would say it, but there it is. That said I have always followed the Demons, the jumper and the players, not the MCC tie brigade.

a radical thought. But given the perilous financial/ ecological  times i worry now about our survival in the next few years.

I doubt we are any worse off than we have been for the last 5 decades .  We are definately better off than we were 6 years ago. But for the small clubs the difference between survival and disaster may now only be one bad season.

Yep, throw a blanket over us, Kangas, Bombers, Saints. No real point of difference anymore. The Saints have done well this year but the gap to the next level was  awfully exposed last week. It is a genuine worry. I fear if we lost Petracca or Oliver to a top Club we could also lose young supporters.

i honestly think we’re the most exposed as , of all the clubs you mentioned, we have no home base.

gary buckenera on brown's value:

Brown is on the table and the Kangaroos will be lucky to get a top-25 pick for him after what’s occurred. Clubs will see an opportunity to get him cheaply, although I believe he’s worth a top-25 pick.

We're Melbourne. the oldest football club in the world. the foundation member. The club of the great Norm Smith. Of Barassi. No way in hell's fire are we going to Tassie or anywhere else for that matter.

We just so happen to be financially secure at this moment in time as a result of the sale of the Leighoak club. We don't need AFL assistance. We're in a much better place financially and on-field compared to North. They'll in a world of pain.

We badly need a home base though.

We have survived without one for half a century. That is not the reason we will rise or disappear. It is the lack of wins pure and simple. All clubs went to QLD this year without a home as such. But still the teams with good player stocks are in the last 4. That is no accident.

Correct! His knee interrupted his pre season and started round 1 with little or no practice match play. He injured it again mid season and recently required surgery on it. He has already had one knee reco on that left knee at the age of 17 and ongoing issues. Due diligence certainly required

I'm not advocating this as a strategy but surely it's just a case of staying one step ahead of the two worst financially viable clubs at any given time. All of the most recent expansion clubs are being propped up with AFL money and I can't foresee a time where any other major city could could accommodate a third club. If the AFL have no appetite to expand the competition and the broadcasters want nine games each week then that would leave us with two existing clubs relocating to Tasmania and possibly the NT or Canberra.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
