We have still yet to account for the pathetic performances we give for 50% of the game.

We have some serious attitude problems at the club that need to be addressed (and should have already been addressed) asap.

Number one Priority...

this win must not be a band aid...

Gawn and Hogan play and we probably win.  Granted, Ablett is a huge out for them but we were missing some very good, and important, players as well.

An unenjoyable win is correct, but I'll still take the win.

True.

We were still pox.

Yes a win is a win. I'll take it, but i don't have to like it.

Hope the players' have the same attitude towards it too. What we served up in the first half cannot be swept under the carpet. Hopefully the break will allow the FD to really look into it and do something productive about it.

I think I could get used to living in a town like Alice.

You'd end up drinking heavily....very

They have a better set up, more skilled players who can take contested marks and spread well. Our players are aerobically fitter and can run out games better, even in the heat and humidity. All praise to the fitness staff.

Neal-Bullen breakout game?

Composure, decision making and execution were excellent.

Watching Melbourne play is like having your wisdom teeth extracted without anaesthetic.

Aaaaagh!

I have no doubt if we brought 4 quarters every week then we'd be a chance for the flag. Unfortunately we're still yet to see it but 1.5 was enough for an easy win.

Jones and Harmes were the catalysts. Hibberd is elite even when the chips are down, and biased [censored] Rohan Connolly didn't have him in top 10 recruits for the year. LOL.

Hannan is a winner, a bit like Breust at the Hawks, just bobs up for goals every week.

I'll [censored] take that win. Halfway through the third and it was season over, now it's alive again.

Goodwin-ball has it's flaws but it's like a tsunami when it works.

Agree with much of that, SS.  The 'tsunami' analogy is spot on.

We played 1.5 quarters of good footy, and in that time we kicked 14 goals.  Granted, the Suns aren't great opposition and they tired, but it shows how good we are when it clicks.  Imagine playing like that for 3.5 quarters?

Was it us turning 'on' or GCS turning 'off?'

I though they dropped right off in that second half.

Good point. The turnaround was so drastic

Jordan Lewis was so important behind the ball, setting up and really leading the team.

Oscar MacDonald is simply a mistake machine.  Almost every touch led to a turnover, a contested ball and lots of goal assists for GC.  He really isn't good enough, based on this performance.

We can do great things in a half of footy - I'm keen to see them put it together for 4 quarters at some stage.

Made some poor errors but Lynch and Wright had 9 marks and only 4 goals between them and he had 11 1%ers (next closesr was Nev with 6).

Tom Bugg  0 goals 7 behinds the last 2 games

I have still liked his game over the past fortnight, though.  He is clearly playing well as a defensive forward, he has good hands and he is getting to the right spots to hit the scoreboard.  He just needs to put a few kicks through the big sticks like he did against the Crows.

Nathan Jones is a hero!! He willed the team to a win.

He bleeds red and blue.

On a side note...I just noticed we have the 4th highest percentage.

Could you imagine if we could play for four Q all the time?  Yes i agree with you Demon Disciple we need a solution to that problem because we can not be just showing up for bits here and there.

One of the most unenjoyable wins I've seen.  Ablett plays and we probably lose.

A long way to go for this group.

They had Ablett out we had Gawn and Hogan out. With them in TMac plays back Oscars out and we have a marking target up forward for all the bombs we sent in in the 1st quarter

Main difference first/second half was swapping Tom Mac and Pedersen (ruck/forward). Tommy is not a forward.

Good point, SJ.  He used it very well this week and he was stiff to be dropped a few rounds ago.

The other one that stood out for me was Melksham.  Had a huge impact on the game and he looks a much better player since being released from the half back line.  Let's hope that continues as well.

I knew my boy Harmesy would be a good in.

Can't get Hogan and Gawn (or even Spencer) back quick enough.

Steven May would help!

Those close losses against Freo and Hawks mean we will be out of the eight after tonight instead of 4th or 5th.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
