no. just tackled after ball is kicked is just fine for the rule

agreed may is different because this was a handball situation and wasn't a tackle. it was a bump and it was high

you also can't tackle a player after a handball, but you can block or bump within 5m any player whether he has just disposed of it or not. the exception being if the player is attempting to mark the ball

Ok so now you want the time to say "you can't block or bump after disposal unless the player is involved in the play"?

Isnt that what is says? "You can't make prohibited contact to a player after they dispose of the football."

I don't understand your confusion. This isn't a new rule!

no you are not. he made up th 5 m rule, it doesn't exist for someone who has just kicked the ball

hit someone late after disposing of the ball is a free kick every day, and based on lateness, not 5m

now whether it is reportable is a different matter but got nothing to do with a mythical 5m

Thx that's my understanding

Hannebery to St Kilda lock it in Eddie. Just some water to go under a bridge before it happens.

He linked an article that not only doesn't mention us at all, but the first sentence says that the bloke is cooked. Not sure what he tried to achieve by posting it.

No mention of Melbourne whatsoever. I've said this before, I'd be very surprised if we were chasing after a banged up 27 year whos only just going to get slower and has off field issues.. Goes against the morals our club is known for.

We could always reanimate the corpse of Harry Taylor.

I've said for 18 months now there's a spot in Geelong's forward line that would be perfect for Cam Pedersen and we could certainly do with Harry Taylor at full back for the rest of the year. Unfortunately mid season trading didn't get up.

We could do much worse with Harry in rednblue, just like we have done with Lewy.

But I doubt Harry would want a part time playing gig.

salacious...

Hannebery was human battering ram - got motoring equivalent of nearly million kms.

Worked well fed by Goodes with rest of hard nut midfield.

Why would Hannebery leave Sydney for St Kilda? Far more likely to come to Melbourne if he were to leave Sydney. St Kilda makes no sense.

I doubt we would want Hanners, great player however doesnt have the speed out outside spread we lack.

Gaff is the one we are after.

St Kilda will probably offer Hanners anything he wants just so someone will go there as they seem to miss out every year.

Keep posting D11 not everyone is a harsh critic on what is posted.

I take all information shared with a grain of salt and if stuff happens then that’s good and if it doesn’t so be it.

They are desperate for a quality mid so they'll probably take what they can get even its the best of a bad bunch.

So back on Steven May, it would seem that Collingwood, having apparently missed out to Richmond over Tom Lynch (GCS), is making a big play for May.

This would of course, be devastating for the Suns and it will be interesting to see how this is played out.

For gods sake will this pillaging ever end. Hope he stays.

The problem is that the Suns have two captains with one all but out of the door and the other being courted by one of the strong established AFL Clubs. This is not only going to be terribly destabilizing for the Suns internally but it’s also going to make it very hard for them to recruit players to the club.

I wonder if Dewy would prefer to start afresh with new leadership...  who do not have half their heart out of there.

I think May is gone.  Just a matter of to where.  And for an exchange of value that GCS can use to fast track them.

The salary cap they recoup from these two, can be used to buy in some seriously good mature leader types.  Which has become the norm of the past 2 seasons.

I would not be surprised to see Roughy go there, for just one.

Off to the Pies I think

Since Frosty has taken the next step, this back-end of the season, I don't think we need May so much now.

Who cares wherw S May goes

For GC sake I hope he stays, would be hard for their supporters to take if he does.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
