That was the preliminary final you're talking about,  not the "first" final that monoccular was referring to.

His later post commented on the later match at Arctic .... I was commenting on both posts. .....

THE WHIRLWIND by Whispering Jack

I reckon Maxy must be reading Demonland.

Gawn aims for round 12 return

"Gawn was also confident teammate Jesse Hogan, who was diagnosed with testicular cancer last week, would make a full recovery after a successful operation on Tuesday.

'It's a bit of a whirlwind for us as well, as much as it as for him,' he said of Hogan."

I'm tipping no change but if there's going to be one, it might be Melksham for Wagner.

This game, like almost all of the remaining 14 games this year, comes down almost entirely to us. If we play at our best, we will win. Last week showed that our best is good enough to beat any opponent, anywhere. However, if we don't play out our best, North is good enough to beat us.

Would dearly love to have a dominant first quarter, kill some nerves off, get a nice lead going, and get a confident feeling that we've come with the right mindset against our last remaining "bogey team".

Wags injured? Otherwise I couldn't see him coming out. 2 weeks in after missing plenty of footy, they'll give him a couple more to adjust.

He missed some simple targets on the weekend but he got to plenty of contests and looked ok.

This pearl of wisdom is from the North page on Bigfooty.

"I think an agressive Preuss in the middle might actually rattle the Melbourne midfield, especially him crashing in against Oliver and Viney when the ball hits the deck."

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha, I nearly fell off my chair reading that. Clearly the poster has never actually watched Viney play!

Gold! The idea that Viney can be intimated by anyone is humerous in itself, let alone some plodder who is so slow he'd struggle to get within 10 metres of him in the first place!

God I hope we finally smash North. Such an average nothing club and we need a percentage boost for our race to finals.

Wagner in my mind is a good developing player who deserves to remain in the team..

He has flair and is in a similar mould to Jayden Hunt.

Come on you mighty Demons you can do it, you just need to remain the hunter and not the hunted. It is all about bringing the right mindset, application and team first approach to the game along with Goody and the coaches getting the right match ups and don't give them a start!! - Go Dee's!!!!!

North rearranged team this morning, exchanges bench players for some in team. Unusual? what are they up to. I think they are rearranging deck chairs on the titanic

Not only does the poster grossly underestimate what Viney and Oliver bring to the table, but he /she doesn't know their own team.  Last  time I looked Preuss wasn't even in their squad, or is he one of the deck chairs?

Just watched Lewis on AFL360

Talked about running through the Crows' midfielders at the start of the game, and letting them know they would be targeting Sloane - bit of a shove. Said they went out to target Hawthorn last week, but failed utterly, so he took it upon himself to lead the way, 'cos that's what leaders to.

Over the past years, Hawthorn had a few players who would do that - Mitchell Hodge Lewis Roughhead Rioli Burgoyne for starters.

I'll be interested to see a similar mindset develop at the Dees,

Lewis is scary.

Did you hear him say he isn't very vocal on the field wither?

I found that kinda strange.

Prior to our demolition of Adelaide i suspect Kangas had us pencilled in (5b) as their game.

Right atm i think there are some concerns at Nth.

Melb ...not so easy

I agree he has flair but his disposal has been horrid at times, which is weird because I though he was rookie drafted based on his elite kicking?

You'd imagine he'll remain in the side until he has a poor game. He'll be a useful match up on one of North's medium forwards such as Garner or Wood.

Pedo to kick 6 and really stick it up his old side and for him to assert his new found dominance over North's massive ruckmen.

As long as Gysberts doesn't get 40+ touches and sticks it up us.

Oh, hang on...

it was in the context of player banter and the whole murphy thing.  he said he thought the back chat was pointless

I'm sure he would be vocal in getting players into position etc

I know what context it was used in, my inner perspective of him was that he was a jerk on the field.

Think that was in answer to a question from a member of 'odd couple" to Lewis, about sledging, and whether or not he talks. Thank Chr### he does, even when he says he doesn't.

On Wagner, another left footer, who, in my opinion is building strength into his kicking power, needs a little more game time, he's liked i think....  and they will miss the rats.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
