AFL had lots of chest beating saying the China game was a sell out!  Well, the stadium looks half empty.

Did the tickets go to rent-a-crowd who couldn't be bothered or did the alcohol ban to the masses keep them away?

I assume Gil and co are enjoying their wines and beers in their corporate boxes!!

So hypocritical.

So AFL!

Not only that but you've got two of the least interesting football sides over there playing.  Neither of them are relevant and the game has been horrible to watch.

It has nothing on the 6 goals Jurrah kicked over there many years ago!

Apparently 5000 went over to watch it. That seems a little high, but if true you'd think the local crowd would be minuscule, looking at the stadium.

All the media people are building it up. The players and coaches all keep saying no-one over there gives a damn. lol

Stupid I think. If there was an o/s country worth going to would be Japan. They're sports mad, love imported sports, and have one of the biggest overseas supporter bases going round. Not sure where you'd play it though. not a lot of space. lol

We really should be able to win the next three games. I'd be dissapointed to lose any of them.  7-4 mid year with no max would be amazing considering how close the four losses have been

Mundy just topped off the weekend, hilarious!

In the AFL rules book there must be a rule that states Dusty can not be penalised for holding the ball whilst trying to fend off 3 blokes whilst putting  an opponent in a headlock and incorrectly disposing of the ball.

There's a lot of hierarchy scared of lil ol' Dusty

Thought Gold Coast would put up a better performance.

Have watched it for a few minutes on and off ... lucky they shipped in the Port 5000.

Could be hard to get them to go again next year perhaps.

Most interesting thing to me is the advertising hoardings.

Haven't noticed much dragon dancing on the terraces.

Apparently AFL have only backed it for one year ..... interesting times ahead

We should be able to Abe, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.  We've done it a few times before.  I agree that they are extremely winnable games, and I'm hopeful that last night really IS the turning point for this side, but as a young team we are still capable of getting ahead of ourselves.  Fingers crossed those times are passing.

Haven't scrolled through the other pages, but did anyone see the press sooking over Cyril Rioli's knee being damaged after he drove it into the back of a Brisbane player? He can do absolutely no wrong in their eyes, it's pathetic. Should be at least fined for rough conduct.

His correct name is just "Cyril" and the proper spelling of "pathetic" is D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S.

Would it matter if there was? Last time the umps or their directors looked at the rule book was in the 1990s. Since then it's all been about "interpretations" and videos on the AFL web site.

It was great wasn't it, lol.

They played [censored] for 3 quarters, almost stole it with 30 seconds to go, then have it taken from them after the siren.

In any season you will see it is our fate, too miss out on the 8, we win a few, then loose a lot, and then it is too late

For despite all the signs, we'll finish in ninth, oh we're from Ti...ger ... (FINISH IN NINTH!) ... oh, we're from Ti...ger...land!

They played the Port club song instead of the Australian National Anthem.  http://www.theage.com.au/afl/port-adelaide-song-played-instead-of-australian-national-anthem-at-shanghai-match-20170514-gw4ixk.html

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
