Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Never tip either. It's all about hope for me.

That is a commodity that I have been using constantly  over the last ten years.

The bin is close to empty, actually the only thing I have left in any quantity is doubt.

That one is still close to full.

Kent for JKH the obvious and maybe only change

Plapp:

Dean Kent: Dean had 18 possessions, seven tackles and kicked 1.1. It wasn’t the type of game where Kenty wasn’t able to show all of his strengths, because of the conditions. But the one pleasing thing out of Kenty’s game – that we were most pleased about – was his forward pressure. His ability to impact ground balls and put the opposition under pressure created opportunities for us. It’s been two weeks now that Kenty has played the way we want him to. He certainly puts his name up for AFL selection this week.

That's great news to read that, he clearly doesn't belong in the VFL when in form. Ringing endorsements from Plapp like that are usually followed by being picked unless you are Jack Grimes.

I'd like to see Stretch for Bugg too.

I hope we persist with Hannan and Wagner.

I think it's possible ANB could come straight back in if he was "rested" last week.

Yes but the disappointing thing was being sent back to Casey because he wasn't doing it at AFL level

I've tipped us every week and I'm not about to stop now.

that said, this strategy is more in hope as I'm flying the family over to watch the game. Don't want my $1500 for flights, accomm, tickets and large alcohol bill to be to see our worst showing for the year. GO dees (preferably from the first bounce this weekend, please).

I think ur alcohol bill will be more than ur flights and accommodation by the end of the game small !!

What makes you say that? Did he train with the main squad?

It was a strange short session, more like a craft session  no full field ball movement surprisingly, everybody trained together

No my gut feel, could have misread, hence the 'may be in'

I can't see Trengove being selected this week.  I don't think he will flourish against the Crows.  He'll get his chance, but I'm just not sold on it being this week.

Having said the above, just watch me end up being wrong.

I reckon Kent and Stretch are the other two who will come in to provide a little more of that run, carry and spread.  JKH and Buggy are the ones to make way IMO.

Agreed and I found this encouraging

Billy Stretch: Billy had 25 possessions, five marks and four tackles. After being left out of the senior team, he started the game really well. The thing I was most happy about with his game was his ability to take the game on and send us forward. He continues to build his game around his contest and flexibility of roles. He contributed well.

I have liked Trengove from the day we drafted him but unfortunately I believe his best is in the past. What could he bring to the team that Harmes can't? If Harmes is fit surely he gets a game before Trengove this week. He's  faster, stronger and can take a mark for his size. Harmes, Kent and Stretch need to play in games like these for the sake of their so called "development".

Trengove is smarter, a much better on field leader and a MUCH better ball user than Harmes,

considering a lot of our issues against the hawks seemed to be based around lack of organisation/ on field leadership i think you could make a great case for Trengove if it were as simple as Harmes vs Trenners,

unforunately i can't see him playing unless one of our other inside mids is under a cloud

Agreed. All you can do once you're back there though is show the right signs. It sounds as if he's done it a couple of weeks in a row, so here's hoping.

Valid point Abe, I didn't want to make it a case of Harmes vs Trengove debate because each player has a different skillset they bring to the team. In my opinion I'd rather see games added to our bunch of players around the 20 game mark. Unfortunately I can't see Trengove being the short or long term solution not to any fault of his own though.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
