Is it too late to tip The Crows by 10 goals?

This will have to be our line-in-the-sand game if its to be much better than that.

What do you mean late? I'll be pushing it to 20 goals now.,

Was going to click like on this but nothing to like here.

...and yes I always trust your mail 'Pennant', unfortunately on this occasion.

Looks like being one of those years.

I'm not sure how you remember the content of individual posters.

I take it this bloke gets reliable info ?

Ok then. But on the DL who does he think should be our backup tall forward/marking option? Keilty? who else is left????

Forget the tall element mongrel the Weid is not an AFL player at this point. Play anyone else they are like to get a dozen touches.

That will be six more than the Weid.

Play Trengove from the square  he will at the least make a contest.

I'd like to see them play ANB for this reason. Can give you four quarters. Weed would learn a lot, but we're not in learn mode yet.

I don't agree DD. I don't think you learn much when you are getting beaten 95% of the day.

IMO the only think you learn is that you are not up to the job.

Playing the kid now under these conditions could just ruin him for all time.

Yeah a lot of people say that, and offer Watts as a good example. Where we differ is that I don't think we're gonna get done like that. We've been in every contest this year, I expect us to show a lot and get outclassed in the last quarter this week. With that in mind, having Weed run around against the best KP defender in the game is something that can bear fruit in the long run.

Hogan missing might cost us about 3 goals he might kick. Others might step in to make up the difference. As for general field play he hasn't done enough to make him a game breaker this season. I dont think we will miss him as much as some think. I hope the forward delivery gets smarter and the forwards get on their bike. Plonking the ball on top of Weed's head in the goal square will still yield mediocre results just like with Hogan sitting there. Watts IMO could be more dangerous without Hogan there.

With just a ruckman I would be confident without we still are a chance which speaks to how we have progressed - at dland if not in reality

I tend to agree with you, Hogan is probably not in a great place and if he is sick then that just compounds the problem.

We can win this game without Hogan and if Weed plays, then he has put in his best performance, no excuses, he's an AFL player and has to play accordingly.

I don't take a lot of posters seriously but 'Pennant' is well connected in Perth and his mail is good.

I don't know if Goodwins going to forget the tall element. I don't think its touches you really worry about with a marking option. Weed just needs to create a contest for our smalls in this game: Garlett, Hannan, Petracca etc.

And he we need another tall besides Watts and occasionally Pederson to compete with Talia and Harigan.

That being said I still think Goodwin might take this opportunty (Hogan out) to take some risks with experimenting with Tmac or Frost playing forward or at least loose across HF as Tmac did against St Kilda.

It's beginning to look like Trengove was only signed to make the club look magnanimous and to not make the culture even worse by dumping a much- loved son. He doesn't appear likely to be picked regardless of his good service at VfL level.

Yea, that's probably it.

I think Weiderman will play for Hogan.  If you remember back to the Richmond game (and to some extent the Essendon game) Rance absolutely killed us when we were a KPF short.  He was 3rd man up and flew almost uncontested.  Weiderman can (hopefully at the very least) take a key defender and make them accountable.

If we need the dump kick into 50, we need someone to try and halve contests and let our smaller forwards do their work.

It will all come down to our ball movement and outside run.

Thanks.

Although if true I'm not sure it should be divulged.  He should be afforded total privacy, not partial privacy.

The club said illness for a reason and if anything is shared more publicly I know I'd happily wait for such information as the club sees fit.   Or otherwise.

I dunno about that. If they genuinely saw it that way, wouldn't they have traded him to Tigers when they asked?

The deal fell through because Trengove foot broke down again. Richmond declined.

When we played StKilda round 1, a turning point was when we stopped trying to take possession of the ball and moved it forward at all costs by any means eg push, tap, kick off the ground.  It was very successful for us and a good way to get the ball out of the pack. Since then we have predominantly relied on handballs which results in overusing the ball.

Hawks and Bulldogs are masters at moving the ball without taking possession - after all without possession you can't be tackled.

Circular handball will play into the Crows' hands so I would like to see us move the ball without taking possession more often as it works to our advantage being the shorter side and allows our speedier players to go to work.

Didn't Weids do that (kicked 2, was it?) in our win against Hawthorn last year? And if superstition is to play a part, let's not forget that Hogan was absent for both of our biggest wins against all odds... Geelong at Skilled and then Hawthorn at the MCG.  Could this be the trifecta?

Gawn was playing both those games. No chance we'll even have a sniff.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
