AFL Round 5 - Non MFC Games 2017

Toby Greene is a bloody good player but a dead set [censored].

Bad accuracy in front of goal seems to be a theme this year. Freo kicking themselves out of the game with 12 behinds, GWS with 15 (though with a comfortable enough lead it doesn't matter).

Hardly surprising, it's practically tradition for our team to lose those games. We've made a habit of it and it's so predictable it's not funny.

Sydney 0 -5 after playing in the GF. Well have to watch it after we win the flag.....(next year).

Needed North to win that.  We will be in direct competition with Freo in the race for the 8.

I can't believe we lost to Freo. And we let them score as much as they did. We really need to tighten up and zone off better behind the ball.

Both North and Sydney are 5-0. Life ain't too bad at the moment.

Kangaroos shocking in close games - learn nothing!  Brad Scott must be looking down the barrel, he surely can't lose this many close games without coming under scrutiny.

Spookily similar scorline to last week. With the ShltFish suddenly up and about we really need to win on Monday.

Oohh freo win in the last minute. A long flight home from perth by nth and I wish they showed Brad Scott in the coach's box in the last few seconds. Is it just a coincidence that since freo have dropped Zac Dawson they haven't lost a game? Ross when you play some young kids it may actually work.

As for sydney I think they are just a big a story as hawthorn. In fact worse. They bought Tippett and Franklin into there team and they havent won a flag yet. I htink Tippett has been a huge disappointment. They have other great players and suddenly they cant win. They havent really lost big name players like hawthorn have.

But monday night is a must win for us. Freo just jumped us on the ladder

Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
