    Melksham continues to cop a bagging unfairly, he was good yet again.

    And I would hardly describe Tim Smith's debut as "all at sea".

    Hunt was amazing, but like others, he hit the wall  late in the game.

    I usually agree with most of your post mortems but not today. This is a game that if we slotted 3 or 4 out of 10 easy shots for goal we would have won. Throw in a star ruckman out early and a game played where we have lost 20 or so out of the last 22 and I contend that the players werent as bad as you claim.

    I think inexperience in hannon wied and smith contributed but all in all we had a crack to say the least.

    Watts : played with heart Plus a lot of skill. Plus should have silenced ALL doubters

    Neal Bullen : Put in all day

    OMac : Top 1%

    TMac & Jetta: Bloody terrific

    Stretch : Improved each match.

    Petracca : Provided a focal point

    Salem: a go-to machine

    Oliver : Involved all right

    Apart from their kicking I think today was one of the best efforts you could ask of a young still developing side. Proud of them

    I tend to agree. I haven't been his biggest fan, he was woeful in round 1, but has been good since, with the odd mistake thrown in, like every other player.

    I agree. This is sheer cruelty. Just consider how he compares with Tmac at the same stage. We were one tall short on the backline which made Hawkins' day too easy

    What hasn't been noticed by many was the work and time Geelong put into Oliver. 

    Make no mistake - Blicavs played a hard hard tag - a good choice as Clarrie couldnt get his arms up into the clear as Blicavs was so tall. Then he used his running capacity to run off him, and kicked a few. 

    Clarrie didnt have the tank to go with him and this was one match up we didnt fix the longer it went on. Cost us offensively and defensively and was a rare piece of good coaching by Scott. 

    Other than that - Geelong have no system. None. Their entire game revolves around selwood or dangerfield winning the clearance and tumble punting it to hawkins and hoping for the best. Some of their supporters were incredibly smug in the last and a few were complaining about the vocal dees fans.

    Well, they managed to beat a team that beat themselves. I can't remember a team so reliant on so few players, it's absurd!

      One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
