Smith will play round 1, imo.

'ProDee', it's time to bring Raquel back. Trumps face is doing my head in...

...now before I get accused of derailing the thread, Smith is a big chance for round 1.

No Hibberd, Frost or Wagner so in my mind it comes down to Garland or Smith. If Smith's training well and Garland isn't then may as well go with him in round 1. He might struggle and it's a tough baptism but I'd rather play a guy who has his down moments than a guy who just doesn't have it any more.

If Garland doesn't get picked with those 3 out, then he's almost certainly played his last game for the Dees.

Correct Cards. I have not seen us push the envelope in this game in the entire time i've watched and frustrated that so many others do so and do it well. One can only hope we've finally woken up.

Hopefully we are just not following the leader (it seems logical that we can use what seems like a simple technique to improve) but Rusty you're correct I can't recall seeing us push the envelope, well besides drafting players like Morton, Gys, and who was that fwd?! :)

Cant wait for Saturday!

Jetta - T Mac - Smith

Hunt - O Mac - Melksham

Tom plays CHB, which you'd expect with his tank and offensive mindset, and Oscar replaced Dunn in the FB role.

I'm constantly surprised how often people confuse their positions even though I acknowledge they're far more interchangeable than ever.

I don't think Garland will play.  Who is the 3rd tall after Oscar and T.Mac. Frost has been ruled out.

Good point. The match ups potentially aren't great. Omac and Tmac vs Bruce, Membery, paddy and (when he goes fwd) Roo.

Smith will hopefully get the gig, but a big ask for a first gamer. Gawn and Spencer may have to drift back.

Need to put pressure on the ball carrier coming into their F50. Midfield must do this

Yes, but there is a spot for the taking if required with Mitch King on the LTI

as you say, they don't have positions. they just rotate through. i just the like the idea of the senior brother as the last line of defence!

It's the only time ever I want collingwood to win,  they beat the crows then all we have to do is beat freeo by 3  goals

I too believe Joel Smith will play , been our best performed third tall of the pre season, manic tackler and a bit of X factor.

If Frost was fit he would probably play and Garland just doesn't seem to excite anyone these days.

I don't believe Garland has done anything wrong

But I agree with general consensus that J Smith has been good this offseason - would like to see more

Garland sadly hasn't done anything right since 2013.

Very harsh imo

Let's not get distracted too.much by the past.

What exactly has he done wrong so far?

His game in the jlt was quite solid. Or do you just look at the end result?

There's a permanent spot to fill following the retirement of Lumumba.

Except the AFL won't let us upgrade a rookie for some reason same as last year we could not replace Melksham! (It's a handicap not being Essendon or Collingwood when you are a Melbourne-based Club!)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the AFL stipulated we could not replace H on our list in 2017.

I think H got concussed last year first game.Tom Mac was supposedly zoning off Reiwoldt,,Bruce,Membrey tore us up,so did Stevens..Can't recall Garland playing but give him a go if he is beating Hogan in training drills.Might find his mojo- was one of the few who played well under Neeld.
