Take away the footy and you have cricket and soccer with a bit of basketball.

The cricket this season was lacklustre and due to its early start (date wise) and short tours was difficult to embrace.

SEN soccer coverage is great but it is not prime time.

Basketball... well it isn't mainstream

Perhaps they should take a leaf out of Smooth FM's book and just play music over summer with the occasional extended sports reports.

Let's face it, SEN is the AFL channel. With a bit of other sport tossed in.

Over summer it was good with Chuck Berry talking lots of cricket, there was tennis, A league, etc. A bit of variety.

But the minute Gazza & Tim took over the brekky show it became incredibly self indulgent. It was February, and all they talked about was AFL footy, AFL footy, AFL footy, AFL footy, AFL footy, AFL footy, here's a cricket score, AFL footy, AFL footy, AFL footy, AFL footy, AFL footy, AFL footy, AFL footy, ... you get the idea.

It still is self indulgent. I will say this for Hamish: he's a bit of a cipher but at least keeps the others on some sort of coherent track, otherwise the brekky show would be indistinguishable from a bunch of guys at the pub crapping on and on. Which might be extremely entertaining for said guys (and is, if you're one of those guys), but for anyone else listening in, it's mostly drivel.

Ox & Frank used to have segments like "who's on the struggle bus" ... they were aware they were trying to entertain ... but these guys ... sorry Gaz ... maybe you're not ready for public life yet. Tim: you have a clever wit and I reckon you'd be great company at a BBQ, but have you really been in the media for some 20 odd years? You still come over like it been 20 days. Hamish: not a fan but at least you know what you're trying to do. But in the studio you're "The Guy Who Hasn't Played AFL", ie you're a second class citizen.

The show is a daily 3-hour version of "Jesaulenko You Beauty" (*) and should be rebranded "How About That Day Out At Waverley When You Had To Play On Billy Duckworth? You Hardly Got a Touch. Yes, That's Right. I Remember A Great Sledge I Got In At Gary Foulds Though."

Self Indulgent. No variety. Not entertaining. Rating drop = no surprise.

* = weekly one-hour nostalgia show. Not bad in its own right.

I don't think much of Hamish but I feel for the guy. It's Hollywood Boulevard at SEN now. "You're not One Of Us, so we're going to subtly (ie, not subtly) point that out to you, again and again and again."

I suppose the money would soothe the pain a little ... I wouldn't mind getting some of that to push [censored] uphill every day ... but point remains ... even though I don't think much of him, it's a hard gig and I don't envy him getting piled on every day for the sin of not having played AFL footy.

I thought his sin was being a talentless git who rides on the coat tails of his brother.  He should thank his lucky stars every single day imo.

Andy Maher gets selective outrage about stuff.

I'd like to pinch his breasts on the golf course whilst singing The National Anthem in Black face, dressed as Ian Stewart on weekends, with my Brownlow tucked downstairs.

I reckon he would cry but then come to the conclusion that it's good for sport.

I like Swedish stewardesses in handcuffs myself, but everyone's got their kink.

That was more my thinking!

Apart from the great success of the women's league this has been the most boring and low key preseason I can remember. Could it be an omen for us? Not surprised many are not listening. I'm not.

Bit of a storm in a teacup.  Wait till the ratings during footy season and then we'll know more...I rarely listen to SEN in the summer and I suspect there are many others who are the same, although I can't say I turned the dial to Radio National!

Hamish is a wet blanket and I wish he'd get off both the radio and the TV, just loves to hero worship and gets paid a squillion for it.

i've generally listened between 7 and 8 each morning since Jan 30 to the breakfast show. I have no idea what some of the baggers here are talking about. I've enjoyed some humour, some serious conversation, some news breaking and some pretty good interviews - Clarko yesterday and today with Jordan Lewis (heard on Audio), are examples.

Bob Murphy is really terrific, Mike Sheahan hasn't grabbed me yet and i'm also still waiting for Sam Maclure to hit his straps.

Hamish, just goes, but with Watson not coming in until 7, he is there to start things off. In any case I don't feel the need to love everyone and everything to enjoy a program.

I find it hard to believe that the breakfast show hasn't attracted more listeners. We'll see with future ratings results.

I completely agree.

The new lineup is great if you're into footy.

I hate soccer, but love cricket, golf, tennis.

It's the best morning show they've had for a decade.

I don't mind it.

Hamish is clearly the odd one out. I'm not sure who thought it was a good idea to add him to the team. The bloke de-rails just about every conversation with some inane comment and you can tell the other guys don't rate him as a bloke.

Hero-worshipper is probably the best way to describe. Not sure if he's trying to become the next Bruce or not....

I flick between MMM, Nova and SEN. the new SEN show has some good interview and commentary , but can't listen for an extended period. Wednesdays with huddo are good.

Sam Maclure and Hamish are mostly unbearable to listen too particulaly Mclure. Watson is awful mostly as he tries to be funny.

Lyon , Huddo and rotating daily regular guests would be much easier to listen to

I listen to it and also don't understand what people are so upset about.

Some people are obviously programmed to hate media/commentators but I have never understood why they let it affect them so much.

Both Jordan Lewis and Tom McDonald have been on the past 2 days and both interviews and been interesting, especially Lewis'.

People who go to a forum to specifically talk footy hate a radio show which essentially specifically talks footy.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
