It's amazing people are questioning where Lewis fits in our best 22.

He finished 2nd in the B n F of a side who finished the regular season in 3rd spot and missed a prelim final by a kick. He's played in 5 grand finals and won 4 of them, while also winning a B n F in a premiership year and also getting All Australian honours.

I will tell you where in the best 22 he will be, most likely in the first 5 picked.

Questioning how he fits in the best 22 isn't the same as questioning if he's in the best 22. My post was quite clear in asking which players get squeezed out. Thankfully, some provided constructive responses.

It's worth nothing that Hawks fans who watch him every week aren't as enamoured with him as you are. Yes he's a player with the credentials you mention, but he's also a fairly one paced midfielder. The type of player we have a lot of already.

Of course I'm happy if we get him (as looks likely), he'll be a good pick up. I apologise for not blowing my load over it.

Of course Hawks fans are going to talk him down when he is leaving, it helps ease the pain.

People on here were talking up every one of Hogan's faults when they thought he would be leaving.

I understand what you are saying, however we are talking about a guy who has been ultra consistent and is a genuine leader.

No offence was meant.

Doesn't appear so. Article says he has signed with the dees but a trade will be sorted later today. So as long as a trade can be done then it is done. Late pick is the mail.

So, still just media speculation then ?

The contract part is sorted, still the small matter of organising a trade it would seem.

I'd say it will be done with relatively little fuss.

I reckon the Hawks know they've [censored] up and they have no choice when a champion of their club decides he is off.

Well done to the FD, no leaks no fanfare just getting the job done, he will be a beauty for us, hope he sticks around in a coaching role afterwards.

Couldn't be happier.

No worries.

I'm not just referring to the aftermath of him leaving.

I don't think his consistency has been amazing in recent times. He has certainly experienced dips in form. I am a little surprised he finished 2nd in the Hawks' BnF. That says something about a Hawks midfield that was ranked 18th in the league for contested possession this season. They got fortunate with results during the regular season and were found out in the finals.

But I digress.

No-one is a bigger advocate for injecting some on-field leadership into the group than me. It is largely for that reason I'm keen on getting him. He also strikes me as someone who will want to prove a point and finish his career strongly.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’
