Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Or maybe we're just not chasing these players as hard as other clubs are.

And it seems silly to bemoan players not asking to be traded to Melbourne when we've seen Lumumba, Melksham and now seemingly Hibberd ask to be traded to Melbourne in the last few years. They're not under 22 but they're clearly the players we have had discussions with. We've also seen Vince, Frost and Tyson traded in.

We can't be involved in every trade. If the MFC is not mentioned in certain trades, I take that to mean that Mahoney and team have identified other priorities. We seem to get the players we chase, there is no evidence that we are being snubbed.

Not according to GNF. Dangerfield, Josh Kennedy and Prestia should all be wearing the blue and red, lol.

In all seriousness, we've seen plenty of players move to Melbourne recently, but none of them would be classed as A graders, and I doubt that we've been in a bidding war with other clubs to acquire their services.

The club seems to be missing out on the free agents for some reason. Apart from Shannon Byrnes (a massive administrative F-up) I can't think of anyone else.

Short memory. They pumped us in round 22. And unless you've been living under a rock, GWS are flag favourites and Carlton are the lowly club.

Carlton have been into Marchbank for some time, so it's no surprise.

The day we become a destination club, nobody here will be complaining when good players nominate us. Until that day arrives, suck it up, because the trading landscape has changed.

no idea where this response came from - i wasnt complaining about player movement just stating facts about good players being able to go where they want

and regarding GWS being flag favourites - I was making the point that FA screws lower clubs,  marchbank is not a FA

maybe read my post properly before replying

So none of your points were relevant to this thread.

As for the dig at Carlton, I'd hold your fire until we've actually achieved something.

Mo, as always, you've moved the goal posts. You are the one that used Marchbank as an example of players not wanting to come here. I give you a lengthy list of AFL quality players that did want to come here, but they don't count because they're not A graders. Guess what - neither is Marchbank.

He chose Carlton because they'd have made the best deal for money, game time, and will have convinced him they can easily get the deal done with GWS. If you want to let your insecurities believe it's because nobody loves the MFC, knock yourself out. I won't buy it because there's no evidence of it.

I'm not at fussed about us not going after Marchbank.

What is concerning is Carlton and Silvagni's obsession with bringing in fringe GWS talent.  The are going after a lot of high draft picks that have yet to show anything close to real, consistent form at the top level, and unless I'm mistaken, none of them have shown anything at Carlton either.  Their entire rebuilds hinges on GWS offcuts making it big.

Lamb, Phillips, Sumner, Plowman, Jaksch and now Marchbank (possibly for a first round pick).

Could pay off of course, but at the moment it feels like Silvagni's not wanting to admit that he got a lot of his GWS drafting wrong, and wanting them to turn it around at the Blues.

Sorry 'Team', it doesn't concern me at all.

Carlton can wallow in the bottom half of the ladder forever, suits me just fine.

No I didn't. My response to DubDee was about his whinge about good players going to top clubs under free agency. His post had nothing to do with Marchbank. As I pointed out later, SOS' relationship with GWS players is the reason for Marchbank's move. MFC and 16 other clubs were never in the hunt.

FWIW, I think that Marchbank will be a good player, but I don't consider him an A grader, nor did I consider him to be a targeted player by us.

But I stand by my belief that we are not a destination club.

Marchbank choosing the Blues, Prestia choosing the Tigers (and Hibberd the Demons) is a dagger to the heart of those whinging about O'Meara choosing Hawthorn.  I have absolutely no problem with players choosing the club they wish to be TRADED to.  A trade has to be agreed and happen and smart clubs don't foul their trading nest.  It's a different process from Free Agency and even there the AFL have been generous by including compensation for the club losing the FA based on their finishing position - Franklin 19, Frawley 3.  Too much whinging from everyone!

Forgive me, poor choice of words... 'What is bloody fantastic is Carlton and Silvagni's obsession with bringing in fringe GWS talent.'

Yeah similar to St Kilda in the 80's when they were known as the Carlton reserves

Wow Jones, McConville, Marcou, Sheldon, Kourkomelis

I remember more St Kilda being referred to as the Carlton reserves. I got a good laugh out of it. The players involved sort of stuck with me.

The question is, why aren't we a destination club when seemingly Richmond, Collingwood and Carlton are?

Because young players look at the talent already on our list (compared to Blues, Pies, Tigers) and think [censored] I'll never crack a game there, pass...

No coincidence that Prestia chose Richmond the year after we drafted Clarry, eh?

Think you might be overrating us a bit there mate. O'Meara is going to the 3 time premiers, plus you honestly think a top 10 draft pick key backman looks at OMac, Frost and Wagner and thinks "Oh well, I'll never get a shot"? Geez the "we're flying" posts are starting early this preseason.

Any player with a poor attitudes like that will never make it.

Seems like SOS wants to create a new franchise club "Carlton Giants"

marchbank has played 7 games, in which he's broken down with injury in, what, four of em?

at 193cm and 90kg he's too small for the big blokes, not quick enough for the small blokes.

he's kristian jaksch mk 2 in my view.

And here come the "he's carp anyways, we don't want him" now that he's knocked us back posts...

as far as i'm aware we never approached him as it's been known for a while that he was going to nominate the blues.

That's all well and good, but why slag off a young player who's just making his way in the game. Would you have made the same comment if he chose Melbourne?

The point stuie makes also applies to a lot of the garbage recently posted about Prestia.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
