Let's hope the AFL shows some backbone.

They have none to show.

This will be "investigated by the integrity commissioners (LOL?) and there will be absolutely no case to answer - I guess the only circumstance something could turn up would be were he somehow be traded to a "less relevant club."

I am totally amazed that this simple 'investigation' has taken so long. Wait...., no I'm not. It's the Australian Fudge League standard practice.

Matthews from GWS very keen to say: 'nothing to see here, move on'.

But its not whitewashed, yet.  From the AFL:  "The AFL will now forward its completed brief to the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA)."

Looks like it was ASADA that started the investigation:  "ASADA received information from a member of the public in July 2015 regarding this matter... we consulted with the AFL in August last year and both parties agreed that the AFL would be best placed to conduct the investigation into whether there was a breach of the AFL rules and/or of the AFL Anti-Doping Code."

Anyone else feeling suspicious...?

So the AFL have been caught almost literally burying a body.

Their excuse: "Good timing! We were just digging up this body ... to take to the coroner ... valuable evidence ... Thank god, the criminals might now be brought to justice."

Meanwhile at AFL house, Mark Evans receives the secret code and starts warming up the shredders.

So am I right in thinking that it's taken the AFL an entire year to investigate. Has it come to light via the AFL or another party?

Gubby Allen implicated.

Imagine the outcry from Collingwood if he gets banned for 2-4 years.

I don't get it (I may just not be so bright) If the AFL has investigated for an entire year why has there been no decision? If he does play and it's found that he was avoiding a drug test, what does that mean in terms of results of finals? Am I missing something here?

Most likely swept under the carpet or the usual rule changes to suit the afl whenever they feel like, need to or have their backs up.

Do they honestly  know how good their competition is ffs.

I love football and without any bias whatsoever it is THE best sport played in the world.....HOWEVER

It is overseen by the biggest , but very powerful boysclub. My belief is the top players are in control of our game as without realizing it they run it subconsciously. Now my issue is u could be blind freddy and still run the competition because its that GOOD (UNDERSTATEMENT!)

These Muppets have no idea about sport and come up with these ridiculous  weekly  social issues to promote or some VERY,VERY cringe worthy concepts or promotional ideas yet they cant kill AFL.

Iv gone off track a little and doesn't read as i imagined but seriously the head honchos at afl house would be dangerous if not so comical.

Id give my left one to be involved at that level to manage the game as i can see the game as a supporter of sport and  that the possibilities are endless but not these bozos. They treat the comp as their own or influence in every wrong way possible. And yes these people run this comp. Cant wait to see what embarrassing moment they choose for grand final. They all need to be taken on a long oneway  fishing trip for there actions. Basically we have the best code in the world and still can't govern or control without being.....shady

Collingwood will stick up for grubby after all he called out that he helped players evade drug detection as part of his duties on his CV, thats what sold Eddie on him in the first place.

If he played for Melbourne, he would not be found guilty, but the coaches and support staff would be suspended and we would loose all draft picks.

Quote from the Article:

"When Whitfield spent those nights in the Lamberts' home, he did not follow drug policy protocols by informing the relevant authorities.  There is a suggestion he was advised not to do so.  The climate at the time was shrouded in some paranoia for players after Collingwood pair Josh Thomas and Lachlan Keeffe had tested positive to performance-enhancing substances as a result of illicit drug use".

Pretty ordinary when club officials give kids poor advice.  It seems no-one has learnt anything from all the different drug sagas of recent years.

As an aside Collingwood were supposed to announce Grubby Allen's new job today but all is quite at the Holden Centre

Me thinks this story has a bit to run still...

No doubt. If it was established that he avoided drug testers, he should not be playing. I'm sure there may be reasons to feel sympathetic but it shouldn't alter the outcome.

Do you really need to ask PF? The only question to now be answered is how much of a cover up is it? I.e. AFL complicit.

I like the Wilson article. The AFL has sat on this for a year. They must have known about Allen's involvement and, in turn, what did Collingwood know?

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
