Something is cooking, Mahoney will pull something from left field again like last season.

When do they do the next media interviews?

Surely someone would raise it and Mahoney would respond truthfully.

Three days to go in a very crazy trade period, will be very interesting to see what plays out from here.

if it's indeed not a Rockliff trade, i wonder what's holding up the Hibberd deal

I reckon we are just waiting to lock in the Lewis trade so we know for sure what picks we have.

having said that Id expect next year's round 2 pick to go to the drug cheats for Hibberd

Mahoney hasn't got a laptop or mobile phone on his beach holiday.

That's why the Hibberd deal is taking so long, message in a bottle only slightly faster than Australia Post.

I think this is one reason Purple doesn't like Melbourne. We very rarely put out updates, and Mahoney is only on Trade radio once or twice for the period.

Plus, he seems to have no sources inside melbourne

Mahoney is holiday during trade week?

What goes on in the way of "attacks" in these rumour threads is utterly insignificant when you compare it to the attacks that border on bullying, that occur in numerous other topics... for example, and regardless of what you might think of their manner of posting or their remarks, it only takes Saty or Stuie to put fingers to keyboard and press the Enter key, to have the usual suspects jumping on them... sometimes with just cause and often with no good reason - and that's when things get completely derailed (and yes, I do see the irony in that last comment ;-) ).

Rumours will always have detractors and doubters, and apart from the PMs that Generation Dee was getting (which are totally out of order if they are attacks), the responses have been quite gentle and for the most part NOT personal; the doubters should not be silenced (abusers on the other hand...), as that is as much a part of the banter that makes these threads interesting as are the rumours themselves.

I have no issue with doubters. I have an issue with people calling into question the credibility of posters who post rumours on rumour threads. The whole point is that many or most of the potential discussions will not come to fruition but people are interested to hear what deals the club may be discussing behind the scenes anyway.

I agree with the general tone of your comments on personal attacks and abusive behaviour in other threads.

Thats what he deserves for [censored] all over the club for years, burnt his bridges so sucked in to him

have we seen any of the parties involved refute this claim themselves yet?

I think that they would only have to refute it if the rumour had significant legs outside of wishful thinking fansites and the twitterverse.

Honestly is anyone else legitimately talking about this in the same way for example the Jordan Lewis trade was.

But dland, on Friday Hawthorn told us Lewis was a required player and going nowhere. So how do we know what to believe, Mahoney is a past master at no we are doing nothing and then pulling that rabbit out. This time of year is full of misinformation, lies and half truths, occasionally the truth, don't you love it?

No, but i won't totally dismiss this until either C.O.B Thursday or one of the parties involved refutes it, not because i think it will happen but because i am hopeful it might

Hibberd and Lewis both very, very, very good gets, without having to give up too much. (presumably ...)

Jason Taylor will have to earn his $$$ at the draft though, with only lowish picks.

That was very sweet of you to put that HT particularly in light of me rubbishing David Lynch....oh no I am nearly derailing the thread

There are quite a few posters with good sources, myself included, it depends on whether you want to post what you have heard, whether you have been asked not to, or whether you are ready to receive the flak if the information turns out to be erroneus

Hey, we're all entitled to our own opinions... even though you are patently wrong on that one ;)  I will never hold a grudge for such trivial matters.

Joke.

Not funny when you consider some of the list management issues we have been through.

just updated on Facebook Zanotti Files.

ROCKLIFF UPDATE

Our source has gotten back to us and assured us Rockliff to the Dees is still in play.

Melbourne's 2017 1st round selection and Dunn being floated as a potential trade.

We have to back our source in on this as Lewis agreeing to 3 year deal was given to us in the initial message.

We stuck our necks out on Mitchell and Lewis and the information was rock solid.

IF it proves to be wrong we'll wear that.

IF the deal falls over we will get some context around what happen.

Either way we will keep you all informed.

We're not here to farm likes, otherwise we'd have more than 9000 following this page. We try and keep the information as legit as possible.

Peace ✌

love trade week :)

I'll have one go RD.  GD said the source was Noble, the Operations Manager at Brisbane.  That is not a rumour, that is fact because Noble would know. It's not "a mate who knows someone".

If Noble didn't know then GD made it up.  If he just made it up himself it's not a rumour it's a fabrication and GD knows it's a fabrication.

I like rumours, I don't like fabrications. And all I said is that GD either didn't respect his sources or was a troll. I think that is still correct.

FWIW I wanted Rockliff but respect the FD's call.

Josh Mahoney was asked if Rockliff was a target.

His reply was a prompt absolutely not....no interest at all.

Make what you will but he didn't hesitate for 1 second before answering & looked as honest as could be

For those of you who continue to attack other posters over their credibility or lack thereof in trade rumours threads, please sod off and leave the rest of us in peace. There are plenty of us who enjoy the rumours comfortable in the knowledge that most of them will not eventuate. Discouraging people from posting what they hear is both unnecessary and frankly, annoying as these trade threads would be utterly boring if people didn't post what they hear.

So to Generation Dee, GNF, Abe, Chook in Perth et al, please continue to provide your info. Sometimes the journey can be just as fun as the destination.

100% Agree, keep'em coming

It's incredible how easily people take what's said at face value. Astounding in this age of rubbish journalism.

Or astonishing that people will do anything to hold on to a dream, hey Dion? ;)

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

Concerningly, average attendances in 2024 were 2,660 fans per match, with the women’s game incurring an annual loss of approximately $50 million.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
