No chance that pig's flying surely

In his podcast interview with Neroli Meadows in the off season, he said the premiership was just more fuel for his motivation, because he wants that feeling again.

I thought he was cooked with those repeat injuries early in the year.

Now he’s flying. And I’d say playing better than he did at any stage in 2021. He was right place, right time last year when Hunt and Smith got injured in my view, and hung on to his place for the GF by the skin of his teeth. This year he is back to his best and firmly entrenched in the team.

Loving what the pig has to offer this year!

Maybe the 3 months off were good for his body…

I genuinely thought he would have been cooked this year.

Had the 'old man' with the repeated calf issues and I thought he'd be lucky to play 5 games.

On the back of this year's form he absolutely deserves another contract. It's blokes like Hibbo that are valuable for the club fabric and morale off field more then on field.

I love that he's played more games for us (96 so far) than he did for Essendon (84).

Four more games and we'll have first dibs on his offspring and, if he plays next year, 200 games is within reach.

Only long-term injury stopping him going round again. A competitive beast, and pure AFL standard. I watched him play Casey v Swans earlier this year as his warm-up to seniors return, and he played what can only be called a perfect game. Won EVERY contest, and delivered to teammates in open space downfield. It was a memorable example of the level difference between AFL and VFL. As an aside, Disco Turner was very close behind him, and watching his Casey game yesterday, the boy’s gonna be very very good when he gets his next chance.

I would love to see Michael Hibberd play his 200th game with us and needs to go around again to achieve that. Love Hibbo.!!

Highly underrated and hard as nails. The left boot and drive off half back is outstanding, on top of his ability to win a contest

So grateful and surprised with his resilience - definitely deserves 200 with us! Unlike some of our other current players, you always seem to get what you expect from him. Sure, there were a few patches where his leg speed was up and down, but the skills, grit and contest ability are always there.

I believe my maths are correct and the great man Mr Piggy notches up game 100 for the MFC in the first final.

I've been a massive fan of the hard nut since his first game for the dees as a rebounding half back flanker.  I'm more of a fan now playing the more challenging and probably less sexy lock down small defender role.

Still a best 22 player with ease and if he has a good run with the chassis, should get to 200 AFL games next year (needs 17 more).

Now he's ticked the box for father son/daughters, time to get him out to stud.

I posted this in the post-match thread but it belongs here as well…

and thank god. His first quarter saved about 3 potential goals in the grand final. He was terrifc.

Like most I expected that Hibberd would be forced out by the Casey youngsters this year but how wrong can one be.

Does he and possibly Melksham go around again in 2023?

I'd be giving him another year, the experience is something you can't buy and he doesn't know the meaning of giving up. He's a unique part of the 6 and I don't know if there is a ready made replacement for him yet. Joel Smith and Tomlinson are quite different, could Turner be that guy? Regular Casey watchers would know better than I.

Well done Hibbo, love everything you've broiught and continue to bring to MFC.

Well done Hibbo/Pig!

That is definitely wonderful to hear that Michael Hibberd will be up to 100 games for the Melbourne Football Club.

Hibbo is definitely one of my favourite players.

Hope he gets to drink from a brand new Premiership Cup for the Melbourne Demons too!

ON YA PIG! 🐷

Turner is more likely to replace Petty as 2nd KPD, while Petty takes over May's no 1 KPD.

Yeah that was my take on it as well.

need some piglets in the stye.

Playsclike he's 10 years younger.

Fast for his age and a bag full of experience and footy smarts.

Totally flies under the radar.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
