I swear Jay Clark is a hidden employee of the club, he breaks every piece of MFC-related news first.

Never heard of Corey Maynard, but his brother goes alright and I have great faith in Jason Taylor.

It'll be refreshing hearing the commentators talk about his basketball background.

The brother is starting to look like a player.

We would have to have the best basketball team in the AFL by now for sure.

Id say it's a good area of recruitment to find top level basketballers and develop them into AFL footballers.

Joel Smith seems to be progressing well and we all know Wattsy has a BB background too.

Maynard ticks all the boxes.

Hope he can boot the ball as far as his brother.

Wait what?

How the [censored] does Jay Clark get his info from? Does anyone know anything about him??

The last few years I've been disappointed we haven't been able to use our Category B rookie spots but now with Smith and Maynard we will be using them and using them pretty well I think.

To get 2 father sons, both high level sportsmen who grew up playing the game and have basketball movement skills is really good recruiting I think.

At the least it helps Casey and gives us extra depth.

The brother is a hard prikc. Hope ours is the same, but I'm guessing it's a trait we target with high importance now.

Interesting pick up.

So can you sign basketballers any time you like? Is that a cross-code rule thingy?

As well as working for the HS and MMM he does some work at Collingwood in some of their in house media.

Aside from that he seems a hard working and smart journo. Not saying it's easy but it's hardly rocket science. Get sources and contacts in places, listen out for things, ring around and write fair articles that result in sources and contacts being willing to give you more info.

If at least 5 clubs were in to Maynard and he was training with Casey and Crossy then it's not like this was a top secret mission.

24 has been playing college basketball, NBL and in Finland, stopped playing in year 10, kick 14 goals in a school match.

How is this possible?

Has this something to do with Roos speaking about Lumumba going on to the long term injury list?

Really thought his brother was a good fit in his draft year, didn't realise the family connection, love this win over other clubs. Only upside in this call.

I just know that the Maynard's are MFC supporters. They'll be happy.

You know that for sure?

How so?

Only based on his brother being an MFC supporter.

I wasn't even aware of that.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
