Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

GC want a player of the same ilk...

Trenners for O'meara.

Both highly rated juniors both had great starts to their careers both been injury riddled and struggled to get on the park in the past two years.

Clearly I am joking but their asking price is way too high... a decent first round pick and steak knives should be the going price... but who knows what a desperate melbourne based club would offer to land a 'star'

Wouldn't be surprised if we sit back and wait to see if this gets drawn out a bit, then get involved if the front-runners, reported to be the Hawks, Nth, Ess and Saints. While he has had 1 really bad injury, his first 2 years were up with the best first 2 years played by anyone, so if he can get to those levels again he'd be a great pick up. Massive IF, but if the medical team think he's good to go and everyone else stalls maybe we could swoop in with the 2017 first rounder plus one of or a combination of Dunn, Garland, ANB, Avdb etc.

An injury prone , non proven player who drinks his own bathwater methinks. I agree with the club, they have looked after him and he does this.

I wouldn't entertain any thoughts of getting him. I think he might be done. TWO bad knee injuries!

Caveat Emptor with this one!

Hope we don't have our own Jaeger story. Then again he is following his girlfriend to Melbourne and ours has a Melbourne girl.

These guys know who they are going to when they say they are leaving, then they usually get there. I hope it is not the Hawks, but at least they will be made to pay, or the Bombers, who could get him PSD for nothing. Both of those scenarios upset me. Then again, he may never be the player he was again.

Salem & Garland for O'Meara & a late pick coming back.

Yes?  No?  Not enough?

Not enough.  Garland is useless to them with May and Thompson holding down the key posts, and while I rate Salem highly, he hasn't done enough at senior level as yet to be that 'quality' player they are after.

If we went to them looking to get O'Meara, I could see them asking for an Oliver, Brayshaw or Petracca in return, which of course we wouldn't do.

The problem with going to Hawthorn from a manager's point of view is that their client won't be on as much coin as would be on offer elsewhere. If I was a manager, I'd also be advising my client that Hawthorn look to be on the way down. They'll still play finals next year, but then that might be it for them. So if you go off to Hawthorn now, you might be stuck in two years time without much midfield help and in rebuild mode.

I'm just not sure the lure to Hawthorn is as great as it was. Even 12 months ago. This year they've showed their aging list has caught up with them a bit.

It doesn't have to be as great as it was, as they are still a great club and clearly a destination club.

Don't get me wrong. I still think he'll probably end up at Hawthorn, but it's not the smartest move from him. He certainly won't 'sure up' his future with a move to Hawthorn.

Would Trengove and ANB for O'Meara work?

A bloke we are thinking of getting rid of and a small bloke who hasn't made it, for a bloke Tim Watson described, as possibly ending up being the best mid to play AFL .

Yep that should do it.

When fit O'Meara is a gun, when was the last time a club packaged together a number of players who can't even get a game and traded them for a gun player?

No club is going to do a deal consisting of receiving in return a good player and 'steak knives.'

Some suggestions are embarrassing.

That is the big unknown here.

It is but GC see him as a star and they won't trade him for less than a first round pick or a top player in return. Suggestions of packaging together players who can't even get a game for us is just being silly.

I dont know why people are even bothering to come up with scenarios that see us land him. Massive injury risk and the current owners wont part with him for steak knives, which is all we would offer. I wouldnt part with any of our current kids, other than the fringe players who wont have nearly enough value anyway.

He wont be coming to us unless we are prepared to part with one of our best young players..... and why the hell would we when we are trying to get them all to stay together?

Move along, nothing to see here.

Luke Ball showed the way to circumvent being forced into the draft. You just say I want $900,000 for one year and then I will walk. You then go to the Club of your choice and do an extension for minimum dollars so it averages out to a normal contract.

Wow, that went to [censored] quickly. I was trying to line up future potential and rough chances of meeting potential. I think O'meara's a massive risk, while Trenners ceiling isn't quite so high but neither is the risk. ANB as GCS have plenty of outside run, I'd imagine he'd provide some extra grunt to get the ball to them. He has a big upside, he just isn't what we need at this moment.

Point taken though, and upper cut self-administered. Moot point now anyway with JT signing on again. Good news.

Just as a matter of interest, are there other players that have been traded with similar injury histories? I'd say Mitch Clark, but can't recall others. I can't see GCS getting anywhere near what they're asking for, but you never know I guess.

Roos, Bombers, Blues , Saints and Hawks said to be the clubs chasing him. Tigers also mentioned in separate piece on sport news.

Allegedly he has seen the Roos Doctor, who has allegedly declared he can cure him in 14 days. Praise the Lord.

PS. Sorry I think the reference to the North Doctor is to David Swallow, not O'Meara.

I don't want us to sell out our future for somebody who may never able to be better than just above average, but I would'nt mind it if we were a third-party in a deal where say Jaegar ends up at Hawthorn. A possible scenario could be:

Hawthorn get O'Meara

Gold Coast get Melb2017 1st rounder, somebody like Gunston/ Hartung/ Smith

Melbourne get Hawks2016 1st rounder

If this were to happen, then hopefully the trade would take place after we've completed the Hibberd trade . Acquiring pick 14-18 and Hibberd for our second rounder would lay the foundation for a successful draft/ trade period.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
