Rod Grinter Riot Squad 5,680 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Am intrigued by Freo showing this bloke the door just as it seems he is getting himself right, seems like that they have nursed him through three knee reconstructions and then showing him the door. He is a player with an X-factor and if he could stay fit would walk into most teams (based on potential as it is all we have to go off after just 3 games in 6 years). To me, he is a high risk, high reward option and one I would definitely not be upset if the club was to use a 4th or 5th round pick to get or better yet rookie or delisted free agent.
WA Demon13 39 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Finished, Tough buisness this football caper.

That's his problem, isn't it? On his past history, the poor bloke couldn't walk into any club - he spends most of his time on crutches.
Mach5 4,768 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Surely not... The kid was a high-return prospect when he came into the league in 2009. Now that he has lost all that time to injury and actually has very little exposed form or onfield experience, that return is looking considerably lower.
McQueen 17,867 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 I can understand Freo doing this - 3 games in 6 years of footy tells the story. I can't see him moving interstate either given his history. If he went down again and was away from Family it would be really hard to deal with. Let's hope he can get over all of his injury woes and find some good form at another WAFL club other than Peel. Who knows, he might find his way back on to an AFL list eventually.
MadAsHell 4,217 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 I wouldn't be against it. But can't see it happen.
mdemon 266 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Worth a rookie spot. Former No. 4 pick and Rising Star nominee in 2010. Turns 25 in October. Maybe a 'change of scenery' = 'change of luck'?
Adzman 2,154 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Wow. This has to be one of the saddest football stories in the last decade. This kid was a machine at peel thunder and was in #1 talks with scully trenners dusty martin. I hope he gets a gig, but I don't think it is the dees who can afford to take the punt with our list ready to make the next step.
The Lobster Effect 899 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 He's finished. Hasn't played well in the WAFL this year.
KingDingAling 3,758 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 We are in a position to take the risk. We are blessed with great youth. If we taken Morabito as a rookie and it didn't work out, we wouldn't lose much.
Dante 2,739 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Nah, think it's all over, he's just too much of a rsk and beside that of he's got any currency West Coast will probably pick him up. History of injuries, moving interstate, lots of cost and risk involved.
TeamPlayedFine39 8,525 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Sadly it would seem his body's just wrecked. After so much surgery and time out of the game, he keeps re-injuring himself. Very sad, but a reality of professional sport.
jnrmac 20,360 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Has he been shown the door? Is that official? Can't see it anywhere online.... And would we want him? No. 3 recos? nup. What's the point?
BLWNBA 1,483 Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Absolutely not. If we're looking to re-rookie an injured player, I would much rather that player be Trengove.

chook fowler 19,769 Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Can't see the point - even if fit he doesn't offer anything different.

Demon_JB 1,389 Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 If we are considering letting Trengove go, there is no way we would consider recruiting someone like Morabito.
MadAsHell 4,217 Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Officially delisted the other day. http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/afl/teams/fremantle/fremantle-dockers-delist-luckless-defender-anthony-morabito-after-seven-injuryhampered-seasons/news-story/81634d97f06ceefbcf8d0971e9489386 Still wouldn't be against a rookie lifeline, The games he has played in the WAFL have been reasonably promising. http://www.aflplayerratings.com.au/Ratings/Player/114929/Anthony-MORABITO Doubt it will happen though,
Little Richard 6,265 Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Just not worth giving him a spot, especially considering what our recruiting team has been unable to earth through rookie selections recently. Use the selection on another project player, preferably a ruckman.

Not only that, but at the end of the season he did his calf quite badly from what I can gather. His body is shot, which is a shame as he was a very talented footballer. No point in even considering him now.
P-man 13,367 Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Apparently was barely able to get a touch at Peel in the last couple of games. Very unfortunate. If he can rebuild confidence in his body have a solid season in the WAFL to prove he's not a spent force, clubs might show interest. As it stands he's way too much of a risk.
