How's that fake tough guy act going for you, Port?

Rubbish.

You're obviously not watching the game?  Port dominated possession and inside 50's that quarter but couldn't finish off.

Great first half.  We need to remember we are playing on their home turf, so they'll always have periods where they will get on top, but our defence has held firm and we've taken our chances.

Special mention to Dom Tyson, who is having a wonderful second half of the season.  16 touches and 4 clearances so far, he's been terrific.

Our 3 highest possession getters have goals, midfield winng this game despite 8 to 0 center clearances

This is good. We have them under extreme pressure when they have the ball.

Our slick disposal and ball movement wore off a bit in that quarter.

Watts Hogan Viney out of it and we are still thrashing them. Jones also quiet.

Exactly, backfired immensely for them.

Need a huge effort in this 3rd quarter to put them away. Pollack and Wines the only 2 keeping them in it.

Just goes to show how talented we are now.  Some of our key players can have quiet nights, yet we're still 6 goal up.  It's fantastic!

I think we might need to be patient tonight.  Port, on their home turf and after last weeks 'effort', will no doubt come out breathing fire and looking to kick a few early goals to get the crowd behind them.  You can see the downhill skiers now - Wingard, Gray, Ebert, Dixon, Westhoff etc will all be up and about and I think it may take some time to weather that storm.  If we can do that, and limit some of that potential early damage, then we can easily get on top and run all over them as the game wears on.

So, if Port do kick the first couple, there is no need to go and jump off the Westgate Bridge.

I love how wrong this was.

Only 1 club does the fake, tough guy stuff better than Port, and that's Norf.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
