All the shops are closed by 5 pm...

Well or was like that in 2012 when I was there.

Nah, that's just the pubs.

A lot has changed since then, some of the bigger ones are open until 9pm on a Thursday.

His Leg injury would be a massive concern as it originaly it was not a clean break laterally. My understanding is that a splinter break up the leg has the potential to keep fracuring along the break line as seems to have happened in this case. Rumours over here have been running strong that the playing group are "off him" a bit and as a group had to stand in to ensure that there votes were heard in the captaincy bid and evnetual Mundy appointment.

If i was to have a bet - id say he is keen to leave and head to the football state of Victoria. He understands the buisness of football and knows that his window for a premiership at freo is fast dissapearing.

Ross Lyon doesn't take crap from anybody. It's why he's a great coach but also a potential weakness.

Players take after their coaches. So Mundy is the captain as he's the senior player and leader. Fyfe is the superstar with a superstar attitude and wasn't the right choice for captain. Who knows if that's upset him, I doubt it. Plenty of time for him to captain the side later.

Freo right now are rubbish. Freo next year will likely be far better. But they still need a tactical improvement and a lot more talent. Fyfe, Bennell, Johnson, McCarthy, pick 3, Sandilands (for 1 more year), that's an improvement but to rebuild it's going to take some sustained drafts and trades.

I'm about 90% sure Freo will improve to at least an 7-10 win team next year and Fyfe will sign on and probably captain them in 2018. The 10% chance is that Fyfe gets injured again or Freo get a lot of injuries or Ross Lyon can't adapt at all and Freo struggle along to 5 or 6 wins and Fyfe says stuff this I'm off to join a contender.

Don't know if he will come to us but I've heard him talk a few times and he specifically mentions that all the individual success means nothing if you don't win a flag and that is the ultimate to him. If he doesn't think he can win a flag at freo I reckon he will go.

That being said, he will probably go to either Hawthorn or Geelong...

If he's stupid he will. Geelong have an average midfield with two stars in it. Hawthorn will get nowhere unless they start to replace their bookends.

If Fyfe is Genuine he will look to Melbourne,GWS ,Bulldogs or Saints.

It sounds a bit like Gary Ablett jnr.  Poor choice for captain.   And Judd, again, not the best choice for captain.

Clubs need Mitchell, Hodge, or Cam Smith types, to lead them.

the problem is not what we offer Freo - its what we have to offer Fyfe in terms of dollars and our cap.

Surely Dawes will free up some cap space

Definitely…I'd include Barry Dent, Sarah Wolfe & Derek Trotter.

As much as i would love to have him in our team, the amount of $$$ we would have to pay would put too much pressure on the cap for our own future stars.  No harm in inquiring.

Look at the influence of Dangerfield to Geelong! and I regard Fyfe as a better palyer! And you want to quibble over Cost??

Sheeit offer him what he wants and chase HARD!

What does the Richmond doctor say about Nathan ?

Freo will through everything at him to keep him around. He is way to importain to there future plans to let him walk out.

I actually think he's done, which is worth nothing as it's not a medical opinion, but to me he is a race horse with a busted leg. Its almost like he is too strong and will never heal well enough to bare all the force he puts on the bone when he plays.

And which I think is incredibly sad, genuine remorse about it.

I reckoned he played under significant duress in last years finals campaign. Not just the last game where it was confirmed he played with a broken leg (and starred mind you). I reckon he was hurt earlier than that. After the break this time around I think they would have wrapped in cotton wool as the season mattered for nought. He will be cherry ripe for next year and I for one would salivate at the prospect of a player of his caliber to come to mfc. In saying all that I doubt it will ever happen

Him fit in a heart beat, the only blokes I wouldn't trade would be viney/gawn/petracca

I really can't imagine a WA born and bred kid who's already a superstar of the comp wanting to move across the country.

It feels like more of a gentle nudge/threat to ensure that he does receive the best possible deal from Freo going forward and for him not to be taken advantage of financially for being loyal.

Surprised when I read he was a massive tiges fan growing up who hated the dockers and didn't want to go there when he was drafted. Still, can't see him ever leaving there now. He's a local superstar

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
