With Dad in hospital and looking the worse for wear I decided to take mum in and get around the old fella. So glad I did as we got him out of bed for first time in a few weeks, sat him up and we listened to most of the match together while I got some decent sustenance into him.

He's a Blues fan but also loosely followed the Demons through the Barrasi years and then when he went over to the Dark (navy blue) side! Even said he carried Ron's bag into Princess Park on his first day, Ron changing into full Carlton regalia to address the charges as fully fledged Blues captain/coach.

I couldn't wipe the smile off Dad's face when we hit the front in the last and went on with it and he even shed a tear of joy as we sung the song at the end.

To Mr Roos and the boys thank you for making today a special day for my dad. I wish I could have been there but it's still a day I will never forget. I salute you.

One small but very important step for the boys.... one meaningful leap for the Club and its long suffering supporters!

The Mighty Demons are back!!!

Also Jayden Hunt high fived me after the game. My life is now complete.

Never wash that hand again.

Well, that was the third game I've been to this year for three wins.  I'm pretty happy with that.

Massive congratulations to King on his first 50 games, and to team Viney for their combined 300.  I don't think we could have asked for more from either of them today.

It was such  thrill to see the young guys dominating the midfield, and especially their kicking into the forward 50.  I don't remember the last time we had that many quality kicks delivered to our forwards.  It made such a difference from the usual high bomb to the square and obviously paid off as we kicked 17 goals 8 from 46 inside 50's.  That's as good a conversion rate as anyone in the league.

I couldn't believe the blatant frees being missed by the umpires right from the beginning of the game.  Two of the Hawks' three first term goals were from clear umpiring blunders.  I'm waiting to see how Kennedy is going to try to spin those calls to make them seem legitimate, or indeed if he will just refuse to address them.  I was absolutely ropable at the game and so proud of the team for just sucking it up and beating the hell out of the Hawks anyway.

Just an awesome win.

Hodge, Mitchell, Thug Lewis, cheat Rioli, and Third man up only Gibson...

...beaten by Oliver, Viney, Tyson, Jones, Gawn and Watts.

The Rolling Stones were wrong - I can get satisfaction.

Surely Pederson has done enough now to hold his spot. He is that Leigh Brown type. Prefer seeing him pinch hit in the ruck instead of Watts.

Would love to see Weid play a few more this season.

love that AVB, Brayshaw, Trac are all playing together.

Max = man crush

Viney = same as above

we are getting better, but still above the shoulders. Got to keep improving in the mind as much as physically during pre season.

Heard Clarko post match. I respect him, but no need to mention that Hawthorn "have dominated sides, including Melbourne for a long time".

i think he is trying to deflect attention from the side because they have probably been fortunate to be on top given so many close wins. This loss if analysed will show Hawks not unbeatable. The ladder is a lot closer now too. Regarding the Hawks....watch this space....

Nothin I'm just sic of hearing his dribble that he speaks about us and the demeaning and belittling way he talks. It really grates me tbh.

He talks like we don't understand English!!!

We were probably a 7-8 goal, even more better side today. They never looked dangerous. And haven't really all year. They've normally won those games but we got on top and ran away.

Those last 10 minutes, haven't seen something like that against a top 8 team let alone 1st since the Daniher years. I have fond memories of Trapper Johnston putting the final nail in the coffin against the Pies in 04 or 05. Today reminded me of that when Billy finished them off.

Was a fun last quarter .

Mentioned during the match and also on Bigfooty,..... Afl number 1 Ruck/rover combination, Max Gawn/Tyson, number 2 Max Gawn/Viney, number 3 Gawn/Jones. Totally amazing if correct.

That would make Max the No 1 ruckman surely...

Great news - I had thought that I would have to listen to Deeerrrwayne when I gat to see the replay later, but you seem to be suggesting that I don't.

So Clarkson just used inexperience as an excuse for their loss today. The little person scrambling for excuses.

We need to get Pauline Hansen to give him her standard response: "Please explain"

Just saw replays on the 'incidents':

Don't think Rioli will go.  I don't know how they assess "high" - but I thought the contact with Oliver looked more like chest and the head throwback might have come from chin contact? I don't think there was a concussion risk with that shirtfront, I'd be happy with it if delivered by an MFC player.

The Mitchell one was piss poor and he should definitely get weeks.  Will probably be declared "low impact" which will probably reduce it unfortunately, but I can't see him avoiding a suspension.  He clearly, blatantly punched Watts in the face.

2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. The move of “Disco” to a key forward post looks like bearing fruit. Turner has good hands, moves well and appears to be learning the forward craft well. Will be an interesting watch in 2025. Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

Melbourne’s most important player who dominated the first half of the season until his untimely injury in the Kings Birthday clash put an end to his season. At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention. When the season did end for Melbourne and Petracca was slowly recovering, he was engulfed in controversy about a possible move of clubs amid claims about his treatment by the club in the immediate aftermath of his injury.
