Do Richmond bite the bullet and give themselves a head start before the end of the season, but who to bring in?......risk an assistant?

Sometimes you need to squeeze the puss out....things'll start righting themselves after that.... Still.....hell of a lot of puss at [censored] land

Such a circlejerk around bagging richmond. They're the most similar club in the AFL to Melbourne. They're Melbourne with more members.

Gee even I am shocked, they deserve all the criticism that comes their way, footy world has been continually told they were finals bound, MFC know exactly where they are at

Apart from Reiwoldt, Martin and Rance who would you swap from their list with ours?

There seems to be a lot of Richmond supporters at the ground. Any one there who can tell?

If GWS win the flag, will anyone care (other than AFL HQ)?

They have a lot of support in Sydney. The support is now drawn down class lines. Swans are the upper class, GWS seen as working class. I know a lot of people in Sydney through work, almost all casually support GWS. They'll hit 20,000 members next year. You watch. They might not go to games but for an area that is very rugby and soccer, the crowds are good relative to that. I think they're exceeding expectations tbh. A final at Spotless against a Melbourne team will be a sellout. And if they make the GF there will still be 95k+. Most tickets go to corporates and you'll see a high ratio of GWS members attending.

It'll be like when Storm won in 99. All of Sydney said no one cares, but the city of Melbourne was ecstatic.

I mean historically they're similar club to Melbourne. All we have over them is one grand final appearance, and they have their last premierships 10 years later than ours. Just seems like the league goes around in circles, bagging the unsuccessful clubs over and over.

Edit: Low table poppy syndrome. SImilar thing happening to the Kangas now that they've lost 6 our of 7 games or whatever it is and the last two prelims. A historically unsuccessful club makes a strong effort at some success, doesn't get any over 3 years and falls away and we all laugh at them when they fall away.

Since half timer Scully has had three kicks and everyone has gone straight to a Richmond player.

A poor kick for someone on $1 miilion PA.

Must be the leg he hurt at the MFC!

We have been monstered and deservedly so for last few years, Richmond deserve whatever is coming their way

True, but our love of seeing Richmond fail is the one thing that unites us as Melbourne supporters.

Get the pizzas and beer. This will be entertaining. Caro must be beside herself with duplicitous outrage

Maybe the point is that Richmond fans should be more vocal about equalisation than ripping the footy club to shreds this time around. They have a big voice and should use it. A club tried to penetrate the top tier of the league and fell away back to the bottom is the story here, its not completely about richmond and their culture.

Two.

Indelibly etched, sadly.

You're such a frustrating poster.  We kick straight, we win.  Pies winning today means zilch and has no reflection on us at all.

For an 'old' poster you sure do post thoughts that seemingly come from a 5 year old with little knowledge of footy.

And yet you summarily dismiss this required kicking of winning scores.

Bit like the acceptance of the holy trinity in reverse.

Quite simply we should have beaten WCE. Irrelevant of where because we nearly did but choked.

If we had played West Coast at the G, in similar conditions, a few weeks ago and been soundly beaten then I would agree.  It would be very disappointing.

But we didn't.  We played them on their home turf, much of it wet, slippery conditions, and if not for wasted opportunities that we should have taken, we win the game.  We didn't win it, but to suggest that our game against the Eagles is somehow similar to the one today and that things will 'get ugly' if the Pies get up is a sad, naive and short sighted response.  It's a response for those posters who love to wallow in negativity and they'll look for ANY way to push that feeling on others.

I say get stuffed.  Any reasonable Melbourne supporter would be disappointed with last week's loss (myself included), but see today's outcome, if the Pies get up, as not even close to a reflection of last week or that it shows we are 'behind' the Pies.  It's nonsense.

That and the fact that WCE are a vastly superior outfit when playing at home as opposed to interstate. Would've smashed the Pies if it was at DS today.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
