Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

A little bit off the subject a bit, but what about last looks at certain players with transfer value seeing as we shouldn't make the Finals now?

What's the deal with Oliver? Don't understand why he's languishing in the VFL is it just his fitness?

ANB very stiff doesn't do a kids confidence any good when he's dropped after one game, happened a couple of times this year I think. Should be given a block of games to show whether he is worth persevering with.

Bwahaha

I think Oliver's lack of a tank started to effect the way he played and could play, leading to habits that were detrimental to his development creeping in. Several have noted he wasn't kicking and given his engine issues I suspect he was strugging to spread as well. so playing him at Casey to build engine and have capacity to develop the outside aspects of his game may be the reason...?

Of course he is a troll. If it was me doing it or even yourself then we would be in the dog house having a holiday.. but not Saty.. Gets away with whatever he wants because his 'training threads' are so valuable to Demonland..

ANB should be phoning his manager tonight exploring opportunities.

He showed a bit last week and deserved at least another week.

I suspect maybe that call was already made well before this evening. Last week may well have been his last game with the MFC.

Paul Roos is a politician. Take most things he says with a grain of salt.

Good to see OMac keep his place.

Sick of know-it-alls who want a drop a young kid and replace him with experienced players who contribute little to the team's development.

Club having its best year in a decade and people are calling for the head of a kid who has been a regular player in that side.

Anyone who prefers Dunn over OMac needs their brain checked.

Had a bad week last week, but I think OMac has made really big strides this year. Those first two games last year were shocking. But he's looked at home for the majority of the year. He needs to build his contested game, but aside from last week, he's been pretty good all year, IMO. An important development year for him. Pity we haven't managed to get more games into Frost down back...

6 hours ago, Lord Travis said:

ANB out after one game again to make way for an unfit Vandenburg who is in rubbish form this year. Yet another poor decision by the selection panel. They have been woeful this season.

They clearly have their favourites, but they usually align with mine, so I've been pretty happy with the selections this season.

6 hours ago, P-man said:

Firstly the last decade is hardly a high bar, and secondly O Mac has looked out of his depth most weeks, as was the case again last week. He's been a detriment in defence regardless of results. It's no slight on him. He just isn't ready to compete against AFL key forwards and is hesitant in most of what he does.

Winning games is good for development. If you genuinely think O Mac is doing as good or a better job than what seasoned AFL defenders in Garland or Dunn would do, then we're in disagreement. But I won't label you a "know-it-all" because of it as I learned at about the age of 10 that disagreement is okay.

I'd however remind you and others that every selection decision can make a difference. We lost the game last week by one scoring shot.

I really have no words for dropping ANB after one game when we're playing him out of his natural position only to bring in AVB whose doing next to nothing to justify a spot and on the back of no VFL form.

I think I'll take WB's advice and give up worrying about selections. There's rarely been a week where they've all made sense.

I think the FD are just doing what they think is best for the long term and IMO short term of the club. I think I disagree with you P. Garland or Dunn playing ahead of OMac gets us nowhere. Not once this year has OMac cost us a game, so despite some people thinking he's a liability, I'd much prefer OMac continue to hone his craft at AFL level, rather than watch Dunn and Garland fail to play to the new system with their scars and decision making frailties. I just don't think that gets us anywhere. And there's no way playing Dunn or Garland a few more times this year would have equated to more wins. If anyone believes that, I guess we disagree again.

6 hours ago, Lord Travis said:

Hoping we see Oliver back in this year. He's one of your best talents and since the club is going down the path of pumping games into kids regardless of form then he should be at the top of the list.

Petracca, Oliver, Brayshaw, Viney. That's our midfield core for the next decade right there.

I think the FD feel they messed up Brayshaw's development year a little bit and are being extra cautious with Oliver. Given Clarry's limited TOG and his diminishing returns, I think they've played him pretty well. No use continuing to play him when he clearly needs a larger fitness base. But ultimately, I'm with you. I'd love to see him out there and I can't wait to see Petracca, Oliver, Brayshaw and Viney all in the same team. Then we're cooking!

Do you ever post on footy or is it always about other posters?

5 hours ago, Wiseblood said:

He certainly has and, as you say, he admitted it as such.  He's almost made terrific selections as well and backed some younger players who have come good.  It takes some courage (and a little piece of insanity) to back someone like Oscar, or a Jayden Hunt, put in most instances he has been on the money.

Just quietly, though - I'm surprised Oscar got another run this week.  Thought he was beaten a little easy in the contest by Kennedy and Lycett, and I thought they might turn to a Garland or Dunn instead.  The decision to stick with him will either be a ripper or blow up in their faces.  I sure hope it's not the latter.

If this FD has backed a player a couple of times, they've usually let them bounce back after a down week. I think they've laid down the challenge to Oscar to respond. I think he'll be alright this week. And even if he gets beaten, I don't see it being an egg on their face situation.

i think we need to move on from Dawes and move with Pedersen or look to 2017 by blooding one of the youngsters.

Agree, even when fit CD offers very little, move on. He simply cannot take a mark and I find his disposal really poor as well. I prefer Pedersen, but like Dawes struggles to impact on a game. I don't see much to lose in blooding either of Hullett or Weiderman.

I'm bitterly disappointed with the result last week, but it's worth recognising we played some great footy at times. There's no doubting our contest has gone up a level again this season and the stats support that. Ball movement particularly to create scoring opportunities remains a slower work in progress.

Last week really hurt. That would've been a massive notch in the belt for the season. As it stands, we didn't get it. Like every loss it needs to be used as motivation. We need to get the job done this week the same as against Brisbane and Fremantle.

9 wins remains a pass mark for mine and that's still firmly in sight.

Which makes the GC game critical. After that Hawthorn, Port at Adelaide, Carlton at the G and the Cats at Kardina. The Cats we have beaten once from the last 11 games, the Blues once from the last 9 games, Port twice form the last 7 and the Hawks have beaten us the last 13 games. 9 games is a stretch and would bevery good if we could get it beating two of those teams.

While we are undoubtedly playing better than recent years our win/loss record is still poor. Our three losses to Essendon and St Kilda have hurt us badly. We haven't beaten anyone inside the eight and if we finish on 7 wins it would be my view that our year has been disappointing. Particulalry when PJ and ROos were aiming for finals.

Spot on jnr.

Tomorrow sets our season IMO anything less than a win means we have come bugger all distance in 2016.

I rate Vandenberg as a big powerful mid capable of kicking goals and punishing teams that reminds me of Swans Kennedy. And his improvement in his almost two years on the list has been as good as any.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
