Sandcastles?

I know you're not a big fan of anyone not in a Melbourne jumper, mate, but he's a big bloke and as we know, they take time. He hasn't quite learnt the required work rate yet, but he's in the Frost basket for mine. His upside is decent.

Much as I dislike Norf, ONG the Hawks are being handed the game by some very critical bad umpiring decisions, and I have only watched the second half.

You make some frustratingly childish comments sometimes.  Because I don't gush about Prestia (who I'd be happy to have, we just disagree about him being A grade) and don't like Daw, it means I don't rate anyone not in a Melboure jumper?  You're the king of exaggeration and, for someone who seems to have some intelligence, it's disappointing to see you do it.

Worth another name change?

Game just gifted to the Hawks. Bastards.

Rubbish. That was a victory in the war against staging. Cyril barely touched him under the arm and he threw his head back. Great umpiring, good for the game.

I agree but what a Pity they didn't do the same for Sicily's two head ducks and two goals!

Now that is a bloke I do like to see play our game, Ben Brown.

I've been on the Ben Brown bandwagon since day dot. Glad to finally see everone else jumping on board.

By the way, what a game! That's what Friday Night Footy should be like.

Didn't see those, but heard about him, didn't sound great. I'm just glad the umpires are getting more aware of it. Work in progress I guess.

Didn't watch the game but a Brown fan here too.
Leads hard, marks strongly and kicks straight.
Won a final off his own boot last year.

Bending the knees before contact, lifting arms to raise the tackler's arm, angling out the head and neck looking for the high contact.... Sure the onus is on the tackler to get them lower, yadda, yadda, yadda, but searching for a head high free is both fraught with danger and hardly in the spirit of the game.

Footy is a funny game...  We took it to the boners.... albeietly much earlier in the season.  We weren;t that far off the squawkers. Often I watch us and think we have much to learn and a long way to go...and we DO . But you are tempted to wonder none the less

On our day we CAN play footy . Not at GF standard but demonstrably ok.

The three main bully boys of the year haven't savaged us .......

Daw was better in the ruck than Goldstien and contributed around the ground  in the second half.

Remember Goldstien after 25 games?

Nobody does.

Why pour insult on him.

He is clearly fit and a bug unit, spoils well,is brave and can tackle and run.

Marking will improve with confidence.

Would be a good signing.

He might improve quicker in a young side on the up with Goodwin, McCarthy, Misson, etc developing his game (dislike the word 'craft' used for football)

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play
