GAMEDAY - Round 11

I wonder if the NT factor will come up in the second half.

Great fight back.

Vince was enormous!

Oliver plays too modest. He needs to be selfish. He is a very good player and needs to have more faith in himself.

I might be biased but I thought he was stiff.  Took maybe 3 steps and got tackled.

Having said that if it was in our forward line I'd be screaming for it to be paid.

He's been awesome today mate, love Dom Tyson

Let's be honest - if you had said we would go in at half time 1 point in front, then everyone on this board would have taken it.

Super effort from our side to get ourselves back in it.  Tyson, Jones and Vince have all been massive and our backline has worked very hard as well.

Hopefully we can keep it up in the second half!  C'mon Dees!

Watts is better at ff. Hes a more accurate kick and it allows hoges to take marks around the ground

What annoys me is that, whilst yes it should've been paid, how many times have the Hawks have been tackled and the ball has come out without disposal and been called as 'play on'?

Bar that holding the ball, I think that's the best quarter I've ever seen him play. But Vince and Jones were terrific as well.

Vince. Great leader's game, walking the walk.

great quarter.

geez the umps. dropping and throwing the ball seems ok most of the time now

I'd love to see him kick more as well, but he really does open up the play with his hands

Bloody hell this is great.

Watts is horrible in these conditions.

Expect him to be "worst on ground" today.

I'm shocked, but rapt.

Great game Jackie boy.

Keep it going !

We need to come out hard in the third quarter and keep the effort going, Hawks will be waiting for us to drop off in our intensity, let's not give it to the arrogant plicks.

Well that was an outstanding quarter of wet weather football after the first 23 seconds where they got a goal out the back.

Now keep it going in the second half!!

Up there with the best quarters of football I've seen a Melbourne footballer play

Hawthorn played in Brisbane last week.

Take out the umpiring goals and the obligatory Tom Mac goal and we are up by 5.

And we interupt this game due to a severe storm warning

Match will be suspended and considered over

According to the new duckworth lewis scheme....the dees have won

Umps cars were washed away

The one good thing about playing the Hawks: they rarely ever tag. If they start tagging Vince or Jones, we're stuffed.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
