GAMEDAY - Round 11

Frost sums us up so far today.  Does well, gets around Gibson... and kicks it straight to Rioli.

Jones needs to stop bloody calling for the short handball, it is selfish and hurts us more than ever helps us.

Coaches need to get this back out of his game. It's poor.

Especially when he is bog ordinary in the wet.

Needed that one.

Paul Roos looks bored. Probably dreaming of Hawaii right now.

Incorrect disposal against AVB. Lewis tackled the same 3 times and disposed of it the same, play on..

RIP Muhammad Ali. Sad day for sport today.

We're overusing it no more than Hawthorn. Our backline is just shocking and their forward line too good. We have no plan B for attacking the zone and they're masters at getting out the back.

Nice mark by Dawes and also Harmes.

Reckon Dawes has been alright so far today.  Certainly provided a good contest.

Garlett is having a howler so far. Not a wet tracker.

Can't fault the effort.  The boys are having a red hot go, even if we aren't using it all that well.

Lol. Then he does the team thing. Great tackle Garlett!!

Their smalls all hang back. Every single contest.

Fantastic intensity for the last 10 minutes and reaping the reward.

Get aggressive Dees! Keep smashing into them and forcing it forward!

Funny, they are doing what smalls should on wet days, they are waiting for the crumbs.

Looking much better the Dees.

I'll raise a glass for the first Dee to give Mitchell a corkie!

VdB goals

Haw 6.6.36

Melb 4.1.25

Vince is certainly trying!

Bernie Vince flying the flag and really making the Hawks mids earn their touches. Keep it up Bernie! Loved the hit on Mitchell!

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
