Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

GAMEDAY - Round 10

Recommended Posts

Hard to believe that we're already at Round 10 and it's even harder to believe that the Demons are putting such a young team onto the field each week and yet still remain in finals contention.

The table below from what I believe was last week's round shows how young the team. With Nev Jetta and Dom Tyson coming into the team today, the average age might be slightly higher but it's good knowing that we have plenty of youth to come in and supplement the team - Angus Brayshaw, Clayton Oliver and Christian Salem for starters.

That's all good but our opponents have on average about three years in age and far more than double the numbers played over us. Can youth triumph over experience today?

Wow. Look at Carlton!

Another year and they'll be looking at a complete rebuild.

Median games is the most relevant stat there. 30 is simply a crazy number. We are winning games with a team of babies.

Nearly fell off my chair when I saw that. Wow. Thats a team of players that have played less than 1.5 seasons an average.

Makes the turnaround all the more remarkable, an I hope next loss we have the supporters put things in perspective and acknowledge we are way ahead of he curve.

He would have got the nom last week if he were eligible.

Another must win this game, a lot of teams hovering around 4 and 5 wins. Adelaide could lose to GWS and we're a game clear in 8th.

I love pork belly and froffies..

Mentioned in the Match Preview thread that they had a few players under an injury cloud pre-match. They were Darcy Byrne-Jones, Hamish Hartlett and Jackson Trengove. Port posted this pic on facebook. No Jackson Trengove but Sam Gray (emergency) is in the photo. Assume this is the 22 they're going with. MASSIVE bonus for us if Trengove is out

Played too many games last year to be eligible, but maybe he'll be so good they make an exception?

Also, put the lid back on fellas, geez!

If we are to look at the game, I would say this is an opportunity for us as I don't like our chances the next week. We will be coming back from stinking hot Alice Springs against the reigning three time premiers. As much as I would like to see us roll those p****s, I'm not sure that we are there yet.
A 7-4 record would be better but if you look at where we are at as a footy team, 6-5 would put us on track for what I would reasonably expect us to achieve as a team this year.

Port will come out and try to be tough guys like they did against Geelong. Although young, we have a team of young, competitive brutes who won't be rattled.

Jones to be fined again.

I will be honest, I tipped Port to be top 4 and contend for the flag this year....

They are a rabble, completely out of form and a shadow of their 2013/14 side.

Ive moved on from the Essendon game, a loss today would be really disappointing considering what we've shown since then. Angus, VB and Oliver are first and second year players, we have no excuses.

We will break them open early, Dees by 42.

Alice Springs weather 23c light winds. 44% humidity. Perfect for footy.

Well that's reassuring.
Still don't think we can beat the Dawks yet though. :(

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
