Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We need two big key defenders

Recommended Posts

Frost and McDonald are two players to build a backline around. Tall, strong, fast and big enough to play on traditional Key forwards. Garland and Dunn are just not quiet right. Too small.

Frost and McDonald are athletic and versatile enough to play in a zone defence. I'd even go far enough to say that a backline in the future with TMac, OMac and Frost is feasible.

I know this is a very common theme on DLand but I can't say I agree. If you look at all the games we got beaten in the ball flew from half back into their forward line. Not enough team defensive work.

I think what further proves this is the dogs backline. Morris matched up on Hogan a lot. They have less scale than us down back but sit 6-2.

Game is changing, and speed, pressure on the opposition when they have the ball and skill have never been more important.

I agree. Most teams play 2 or 3 tall forwards and we are playing McDonald, who is better as a 2nd tall defender and garland who I don't rate at all and should be depth. We really need to play 3 tall defenders along with Jetta, Wagner, Salem and hunt rotating through.

We're just not quite executing the game plan. Teams who are quick on the spread will continue to get in behind us until we get it right. I feel like we adapted well after 1/4 time and the boys worked their bums off. Would love one extra quality defender with a bit of bulk (Frawley anyone?) but think we can build with what we have with a little more strength, consistency and faith in each other.

TMac can play 3rd roaming KPB, so could Frost. They could also play on the gorillas of the comp. Frost is better than Garlamd and Dunn. More versatile.

On a side note, Dunn has more to his bow than Garland. Why is he playing for Casey??.

Add Salem, Vince, Jetta and Hunt to the mix, we have a back line with elite running capabilities..... A backline for now and the future.

Dunn ISnt small

But we Need to do something

Jetta was good but another big defender like frawley or rance would be great as well as a second ruck and we could play IN sept.

It is actually a glaring error. We are far better stocked at KPF than KPD, but for whatever reason we tried to turn Frost into a forward.

It seems they have little faith in both Dunn and Garland, so it seems strange they experiment with Frost up forward while those two get dropped for each other every second week.

Dunn was a perfect match-up for Redpath. Garland isn't a match-up for anyone.

People can talk about team defence all they like, but AFL standard backmen should be capable of winning the odd contest. Garland is not AFL standard.

The turnovers and the mistakes up the ground are the biggest problem IMO but you're right re: Garland.

Its baffling Garland got back into the side on the back of no strong form in the VFL.. Yet Dunn got dropped after one bad game.

Just get rid of him FFS.. I'm still not sold on Omac.. Still too fumbly and not strong enough.

We can't. We signed him up to a 3 year contract. Amazing!!!!

Garland is simply not up to it.

TMac wants a new contract on big $$$. He'd better start playing like a KPD who deserves big $$$. I think we should trade him while we can still get good value for him.

my thinking exactly Ted  His nett value in any game hovers above zero for mone

If we can find someone else (whose name rhymes with a drawing instrument) to give Gawn a chop-out, then we can switch Pederson to CHB when needed. Dunn for Garland after his good showing at Casey for the past two outings.

If we're going to persist with a zone defence, we need some understanding amongst the backline. Stop the revolving door approach to selection. Dunn, Garland and O. Mac have all been in and out. And it's not like the changes were made due to match-ups with the upcoming opponent.

Make a decision as to who plays alongside T. Mac, and stick with them. Include a 3rd tall if match-ups require.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
