Gawn good, Viney ok. Oliver is our most effective midfielder, he is a game changer.

Oliver is a natural. Viney was ruthless and warrants more than an ok.

Sorry Roost, the quote feature, like most things things onthis site is screwed.

"You seem like a really nice bloke Ding. Get to bed early though because year 9 really is a consolidation year."

lol, and this is what MFC supporters are reduced to.

No surprise we are considered a joke by clubs as pathetic as the drug cheats when this is all we can come up with.

Knock yourselves out guys, the football world is watching and laughing at your excuses. 16 losses in a row to Norf, and all you can do is make pathetic excuses.

Let's not ignore the elephant in the room either:

It's no co-incidence that when Garland gets dropped we cough up our biggest score of the year...

:roos:

I know you're being facetious, but let's be honest though. The rebound from the back 6 today was the best it's been in close to a decade.

I'm not happy with the result, but we looked really impressive a number of times off half back. There was little indecision, we took the game on and started many a goal scoring opportunity from quick, decisive sling-shot footy. Col is going to struggle to get back in.

Frost was very poor today as a forward/ruck chop out. Not sure why he isn't getting a run in the backline. Do we persist with only Dunn and TMac as our tall backs against the Pies? Or would OMac be  considered? Pedo?

I hope they stop this yo-yo rubbish with Frost. Just keep him in and play him down back. Omac may well come back in though.

Great effort, but Lack of composure killed us

- final quarter, watts takes great grab, then from 30m chooses to kick to lead instead of going for goal

- hogan leads to watts in above scenario, why?? - why lead when the guy who is the best kick in the team has a shot at goal?.

- Kent misses two gettable goals by not steadying and then mis-kicking

- vandenburg misses running into open goal

- 50m penalties gifted away that result in opposition goals

basically it's the little things that our players consistently do, that smart footballers don't do

hopefully our coaches are pointing these things out!!

it would also be nice if at some stage when we play north that someone shuts down Harvey, the guy has carved us up in almost every game over the past 10 yrs and we do not seem capable of doing anything about it - and he gives me the sh#£$!!

MFC have WAY too many supporters who are too easy to please.

Glad the sugar-coaters fund this chit. Means i can keep saving the money i would have spent on membership for stuff i actually enjoy.

This was a statement game believe it or not. Makes me laugh.

Or not.

Ffs....there were a million errors in the game and you isolate Watts?

You're kidding.....

I'm partially blaming Hogan for presenting the lead in the first place. Why even offer a lead when the bloke with the ball in hand is our best set shot for goal in the side and he's 30m out?

First Quarter killed us. 8 Goals to nil

takes a lot of energy to even the scores or edge in front

WHY DO WE ALWAYS START SO BADLY??

I still worry about our Captain and i know people on here will hammer me, but he gets silenced too easily...

There was a 7 goal wind and they couldn't miss. It was even at half time. Why are so many banging on about the first quarter?

What about the interpretation of kicking 15m? Twice in our defensive area we were denied a mark for kicks of at least 20m. Maggots.

Out-coached in the last. Shocking to have only 9 interchangers left with 10 minutes left as you are running the game out with the wind. Their midfield got on top in a pivotal 10-minute period while we were stretching out our rotations.

Melbourne found a way to lose this. Umps were fairly balanced in the last. We lost poise and structure in the last quarter and seemed tired.

The game was there to be won but ultimately we tired ourselves out. Should have been fresher in the last but weren't even though North had a few banged up bodies.

There are only 90 interchange the whole game. We left 10% of interchanges for about 7% of game time. Can't fault that.

As for the umpires, there was a period in the last quarter whereby north received 8 free kicks in a row. How on earth is that fair?

Those were horrible decisions.  The first one was clearly more than 15m but he called it before it even got there.  Even the commentators thought it was a rubbish decision.

It wasn't eight goals to nil it was eight goals to two against a strong breeze. In the second we outscored them nine goals to two so we recovered pretty well I would say. The umpiring  killed is (even if they evened up in the end). At one stage they had ten extra frees. Pleased with the effort but the efficiency let us down!

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
